DL assets that seem to cause havoc

I had to think about this question to not sound too ignorant, if it still does please feel free to have a giggle.

Is it possible that there are 'priority' assets that can 'steal' or 'borrow' missing or broken dependencies from other assets that are newly downloaded .
I ask because I swear it looks like some assets correct themselves within CM when their brothers or sisters are downloaded , and other assets break that have worked perfectly before such downloads.

It can happen, as assets can require different versions of dependencies.
