Distibuted Power

Does anyone know if Trainz 12 will simulate Distributed Power ? I would like to simulate an SW1200 locomotive pulling 41 loaded bottom dump, open top hopper cars loaded with crushed stone up a 1 1/2% grade while being pushed by (2) MP 15 locomotives.

Yes it does simulate it. Make sure that you have a driver in the lead locomotive and none in the rear ones - as per prototypical operation.

LOL with MP15's pushing there would be a driver in the rear on the prototype (and it wouldn't be DPU it would just be good ol-fashioned pushers). Bob is right tho - no driver in the rear units in Trainz no matter what the lash-up is. Multi-unit operation including mid-train and rear-of-train units had been possible (pretty sure) in all Trainz versions, certainly back to TRS04 anyway...

We are looking at making some significant changes to our real life, plant railroad in Little Rock, Arkansas. We have discussed remote control operations from the lead locomotive with the two pushers in which both remote control vendors say that it is possible. It is a very short run, 4 1/2 miles, but there is a multi hundred thousand dollar per year savings by operating our railroad with distributed power versus our current operation. We can reduce our total number of locomotives operating on our railroad from six locomotives down to three.

Thanks for the input guys and we'll see if I can mimick our little railroad and our proposed operations with Trainz 12.
