dissapearing consists

when I put my concists in surveyor and save the route, the next time I start up all the trains are gone

Well, first of all, when you have a question, it's prudent to mention the version of Trainz you're using. There are quite a few versions out there...

I can only suggest where to look for in trs2006, the version I have. Consists can only be placed in a session of a route you created. Also they only show up if there's at least one driver in that session. Most of the time this happens automagicly, but it can't hurt to open Edit Session from the Main Menu in surveyor to see if this actually has happened. In the dialog that opens you probably see the three standard rules, select Drivers and press Edit. If the drivers list is empty, add a driver of your choice there, save twice to close the dialog completely, now save your doings in surveyor and see if the consist is there now in Driver mode.

Are you running Windows Vista? If you are this can prevent operations such as saving from actually saving your work. This isn't fun...

Anyway, make sure your install and run the program as administrator. This will allow changes to be saved without any problems.
