Digital Downlaods

Just wondering if anyone else has problems with Digital Downloads. Personally I don't like them I would prefer disc in a box , even though the cost may be a little more.

I have previously thought of purchasing Trainz and add-ons as a gift, but only having the option of a digital download prevents this option. Why can't there be a further option of a boxed disc at a slightly higher price??

Yes, I agree with Tracks, there are a few things I would like to purchase but when I see how large the files are it is out of the question as my internet account only allows me 5 gigabytes per month. Trainz 12 with SP1 is 8 gigabytes.
How could I purchase Trianz 12 with SP1 on Disc?
I don't mind paying for postage.

Once upon a time you could buy DLC from N3V and it would arrive in a nice .cdp. That is no longer the case, however. With SP1 all N3V DLC must be downloaded in-game and as some people have experienced; over and over again after installation failure.

I've seen some MSTS payware studios do this so you can try this with Trainz 3rd party payware as well; if you place a big enough order (and pay postage) you can request them to be put on a CD and mailed to you. The latest digital download version of TS12 already has SP1 integrated, not sure about retail boxed copies, hopefully someone can clarify that for you.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the response. The digital downloads are not always successful for some reason and I think having a nice presentation with a disc in a box looks good and professional. I would like to give some of the Trainz sims and add ons as a gift and they would obviously look a lot better if they were in a well presented box, rather than having to copy them to a disc or USB. I would be happy to pay a bit more for this option. I hope someone from Trainz who can make a decision is reading this.

I predict, in the not-too-distant future, it will be impossible to buy any form of software on physical media. Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office are giving us a glimpse. Physical media are, in my opinion, obsolete. I'm 62, btw.

Hi Traks,

I do agree with you on the presentation! There is nothing like giving someone a set in a box rather than a link to download or self-burned DVD. N3V still does offer the program its self as a boxed DVD should you want that, however, the DLC maybe download only now.
