difference between TS10 and TS12

you do realize beta testers test the release version dont you? this was tested some time ago. also, there is nothing saying i had to register TS12.

just pointing out 2 things you might not have thought of.

my comment was not so much opinion as it is experience. there is an option to turn the doppler calculations on or off, but i have never had them not work on any certain hardware. also i meant no disrespect to Alberte, it was only that i had read him post that the hardware had to be high end, and then mid to high end. i did not understand where he got this information.

Dear Justin:

;)Just from my two comp systems... One with a standard 2-loudspeaking system (low medium quality out from a general public comp store shelves) and the other with a high quality Hercules home cinema 80w 5-loudspeaking system... Realtek HD audio cards on both of them.

The Doppler effect is thundering outstanding up-down-going on the latter (pity my neighbours :hehe:) and feeble and less noticeable on the former, as you'll reckon as logical.

Please, believe me, as a long-time amateur blues musician I have 'some' experience with sounds and hellish sound devices... ;) While playing "Smokestack Lightnin'" -Ah, whoo hoo, ooh...Whoo... - or covering Hendrix-style "All along the Watchtower", the fading-rising Doppler effect on my Fender is really hellish heavenly

Sorry, but I feel TS12 should of been TS2010 SP4 Value Added Pack and TS2010 Add-On Route Package Purchase(s).

I understand the need of revenue generation, and also understand that N3V is taking an entirely different approach.
My opinion and opinions are subjective that I will overlook this TS12 Full Upgrade Price (TS2010 with improvements to the game engine, SP's installed, Doppler, and MP which frankly was written in TS2010 and Beta Tested as wel in TS2010) one time as a test of a new marketing stategy.

If it happens again, I am afraid that will be the demise of Trainz Railroad Simulator, again opinion not fact but many I talk to outside of this forum feel the same way.

Will I own TS12? Yes, but not jumping on the bandwagon as of now for one reason: As a monument to my UltraScenery Experience and its reward personally for what I was able to achieve, regardless of the opinions of what others feel of my efforts.

maybe this post will help understand why they do what they do http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showpost.php?p=780557&postcount=8

Having been an Office Manager and a Project Manager for many years, I am not knocking the revenue necessity.

Lets face it, did I do a good job with my UltraScenery Payware? Obviously not because it no longer exists so who am I to say I know what is best, and believe me I know how difficult the community can be as they now tend to be that of a high school teenager click environment more and more without realizing what they say has worldwide impact on the community whether intentional or unintential.

My point was that sometimes a company must bite the bullet and offer value to existing customers regardless. N3V does infact have other means thru the Trainz Community a revenue genrating ability outside of core software.
And as I mentioned, I am no fortune teller and my post was not for sake of aurgument but based on prior professional experience and that of subjective opinion.

doppler is not a raising or lowering of sound volume but how the perceived pitch of sound emitted from a moving object changes as it nears you and then leaves again.

the only way you are going to hear doppler from your guitar is if you are playing through a leslie cab.

Justin; Will Doppler affect FPS on my old, single core system? My experience says no, since audio processing takes a lot less CPU than does video, but I am still "feeling out" the possibility that I will buy TS12, even before I get to buy a new system. It's something that keeps eating at me. I have every version of TS since TS2006, and there are some nice enhancements in 12 over 2010. I just don't want to have to give back any performance that I have managed to squeeze from this old box in TS2010.

Justin, guy, I don't want to make this story long... or be cleverer than you ;). That's not a competition.

But that's what I do with my guitar... believe or not my tech sound skills, distant howling sound nears the stage and fades (not leaves) away in the distance... Nothing to do with volume... :hehe: My Hendrix-style doesn't allow weak ears... Modern wah wah pedals can do that... ;) Jimi couldn't. But mine has no merit at all, just pure technology while Jimi's was pure genial artistry.

Please, let's not make this longer... maybe we are boring our readers... or maybe not... :hehe:

Some of them might be...

Have a good night, Justin.

======================================================

BTW: I keep telling that one of the best 'new' qualities in TS 12 is the Doppler sound effect achieved... being it either feebler on some devices or more noticeable on others... Nobody should get me wrong on this.
