Difference between Content Manager & DLS ?

Is there a difference in the assets available to download through Content Manager or DownLoad Station (DLS) ? Or are they simply two different interfaces to the same assets ?

Hi there,

Think of Content Manager as a way of accessing the content on the DownLoad Station that also has content editing and management capabilities. :)

Kieran.

Most of the time, assets on the web-based Download Station are also available on Content Manager unless they are newly uploaded assets.

Content Manager is the N3V preferred method for downloading assets though.

Always search the Black Pages first: http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php
There are hundreds of thousands of assets that are not on your CM
You can sub-catagorize your search, if there are only a max cap of 1000 assets showing
This DLS is what several individuals are spamming with thousands of reserved, redundant, useless, and stolen assets

So there are "hundreds of thousands of assets that are not on your CM" but you can not give some examples?

And just for the record: We are not talking about assets that are also not on "the black pages". I mean assets that are on the black pages but not visible via CM.

There aren't many assets that are not available through Content Manager. The main ones that do not appear are either newly uploaded or removed from Download Station assets.

...Having said that Ive found things on the DLS which I could not find on CM :)...

You will on occasions, but they are mostly very old assets so may not work 'straight out of the box'.

Shane, I think you will find newly uploaded assets are much more in sync these days - only a subjective observation on my part so you might like to check this.

Can you give me some examples?
Not really ... But your in game CM is rather tunnel visioned in its scope, and does not have all the assets...

Well, given the hundreds of thousands of assets you claim are on the DLS but not in CM it should be easy enough to find an example :p:D.

I use CM 99.9% of the time as it has much better facilities, but the web based DLS is a useful place to check first if you have the odd 'missing asset'.

At the end of the day it's down to individual preference - use whichever you like best.

Why should I waste my time giving some examples ?
When you download a loco, and find it has missing assets, assets that are not on your CM ... assets that can only be found on the Black Pages ... or by Google the kuid ... and searching on 3rd party sites ... If you don't like the Black Pages DLS, don't use it, and you will have lots of missing dependencies

I've uploaded a route "hills and mountains" and i didn't see it at CM.

Would that be 'HILLS AND MOUNTAINS' <kuid:136777:100007> ?

Because it's showing in my CM. :D

The problem is people who don't know how to use their CM filters properly. :hehe:

Sometimes they are there in CM but the filters can not find them for some reason. Plus very recently added models appear on the black pages first

Jamie

Yes , Jamie , that's the reason. How do i use them and where can i find them in 2009 build 44653
