Delete Built-in Routes?

Is there a way to delete built-in Routes?

When a try to delete a Route, I get a message saying that it can't be deleted because it is built in.

I back up my entire Auran program folder to a new DVD after adding or modifying sessions. But I'm getting close to the 4+ GB space limit on single-layer DVDs, and the double-layer DVDs haven't worked out well trying to save the Auran data.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unfortunately Art, no, you can't delete any built-in assets - routes, locomotives, scenery items, etc, etc. All you can do as hyper_kameo suggests, is disable/deactivate them in your CMP, then they won't show up in Surveyor....

You can backup the assets that you've made yourself and/or downloaded, without including the Trainz program files or the built-in assets. However, how you do this varies between versions of Trainz. If you can't find the relevant instructions by searching this forum then post which version you've got and somebody will probably be able to point you to it.

What should be an easy way to solve your problem is to not include the bult-in assets (*.ja files) during your backup process. These comprise the largest part of what you are backing up, and depending on what method you are using to backup, any of the earlier disks you have will contain these *.ja files if you should find a need to get them back.

Hope this helps,

Thanks to everyone who answered.

What I may try when I run out of room on DVDs is to save the Auran program folder on two DVDs. I'll put some of the lower-level folders on one disk, and the rest on another. Then, if I have to restore the program, I'll copy both sets into one Auran folder on the computer to which I restoring them.

Hope you guys are backing up your efforts, too.

Thanks again.

Post 13 in this thread describes a method for deleting built in assets. Haven't tried it on routes, but if you are using TRS06 or later it should work....

Hi re Dermm it was my original post and I can assure you that any built in asset inc routes can be deleted following those steps
Cheers
