Buily in assets

Hi
I have 3 built in assets ( all tree's ) that I'm trying to get off a layout so I can replace them with more realistic ones. I know I cannot delete or achive them but as there are 1000s of them on the layout is there any way of getting rid of them in one go ?
I've tried deleting the kuids in layout config but this did not work.
Kuids in question are :
-1:100802
-1:100806
-1:101092

Yes, but what version of trainz are you using?

Hello

These assets are built-in in TRS2006 and you can disable them through CMP.

Yes I know, but that does not take them off the layout, it just means you cannot use them in the future, thats not the answer to my problem but thanks for trying anyway

Hello

See when you are in the config file go to the menu at the top select edit and then select find then type in box the asset you are searching for in the config file click find next.

I'm not sure what your saying here Ahsan ? I've already deleted them from the config file but as they are built in they still stay on the layout. If you mean something else please explain in a different way

I think it is the *.obj file that also saves what is used on routes. TrainzObjectz for TRS2004 fixed both the config and OBJ files when replacing things. Do you have TRS2004?
 
AFAIK there is no way to remove/delete/disable a built-in asset in a way which will prevent it from appearing if a route calls for it. Removing the asset from the route config is a waste of time, the config is simply an accessible list of assets - the asset is called from the gnd and/or obs file....

I'm just wondering if it's possible to replace these by calling the built-in tree in the obsolete table of the tree you want to replace it with?

I believe that TS09 will have a replace option included in Surveyor (not that that helps you at the moment).

Sorry for being misleading in my earlier post but as StorkNest says it’s such a simple job in TRS04 I assumed it must be even simpler in later versions of Trainz
I also trust paulzmay is correct in the belief that this facility will be a feature in TRS09

Thanks guys, I have 2006 so if Andy's right looks like I'm stuck with 1000s and 1000s of built it and unrealistic trees. I'm amazed you can get rid in 2004 but not in 2006 !!! seems a backward step to me.

Hi,

This is a copy of a post i made before which solves your problem

"Thanks for reply. I,ve managed to do what I wanted after reading another thread. This was the procedure I did.

Opened up CMP - disabled the built-in asset I wanted to get rid of - then opened that asset for editing.

Opened up Windows Explorer - found the open asset in the 2006 editing file - cut and pasted the asset folder to My Documents and then deleted the folder. (It does not work if you try and delete the folder directly from the editing file)

Re-0pened CMP and then started up trainz from CMP.

Loaded up the route - every instance of that asset will have disappeared - then click "Delete Missing Assets" and save.

Tidy up CMP by using the "revert" option on the asset."

Is there an easier way of doing this???

John thanks thats amazing, works like a dream and all offending trees are now gone. Andy take note you can delete built in items in 2006.

Yeah, its def one for tips & tricks, theres a lot of built in stuff thats just not up to scratch nowdays, so being able to delete is great news
