Honestly...

Routes, enginesounds, graphics, trees, etc are only as good as the user knows how to use them.

TS2009 has a couple of thousand active workers hacking away, something no other sim can boast.

Woody in Atlanta I worked for an old man that hated to hear people talk about what they wanted...what they're gonna do vs what they have actually done.

People would post a picture in Railroad Modeler of a locomotive then list all the add-on parts, paint colors, etc....but no one ever actually modeled the locomotive. They did this all the time & RR Modeler actually paid them for text & pictures....I bet they really thought they were making a contribution.

But we sat a a table every meeting with locomotives & cars we had actually produced...& they picked on us.

I know where your coming from & honestly I have had everything in the video & more for years...with exception of enginesound until the new GE & EMD killer enginsounds came out, both available for free.

I'm sorry but the quality of the game depends heavily on the capacity of the computer used...beyond that they're is no comparison.

I have watched the DieselsWest webpage for years & along with AlabamaRailfan & actually bought msts, used it twice & put it away forever. Even the great detailed stuff they did suffered because it was built on a not so user friendly platform. I now have everything I need from DieselsWest, supplied by our own Content Creators.

So like I say, you'll get more recognition, respect & feel much better if you make posts about what your doing, show attempts at doing, ask why what your doing don't work, than trying to change the world, the programs & the people in it, etc.

A lot of good comments here but I have to say this. Trainz is as different as everyone's computer is. I do have one suggestion. Search the Forum before starting a thread. The subject may have been visited many times before.

There is the TrainzDev Forum where technical issues and suggestions are discussed real time with the codewriters. It is a great place to learn where Trainz is going.

MSTS this, MSTS that!!!!! I am new to train-sims and had Trainz 2009 first. All the other forums said MSTS is the best, you will love it. MSTS has the most realism.

Tried it, where is the immersion. Having a little screen to tell me which car needs to be uncoupled. WOW!!! That is really realistic. Throw a switch press G if it is in front or shift-G if behind, that is really immersion. Wait is it thrown or what??????????

It is all about interface, I play other computer games and sims. Interface, Interface, Interface makes for a great game.

Tried to make a route in MSTS, nice small screen in MSTS. Read that 200 page after market manual!!!!! Adding cars to the railroad PHFFFFT, which screen should I use!!!!!!!!

User-Friendly interface makes up for warts. All the others are a pretty girl with bad breath and body odor.

Yeah, "Crash"Works looks good but it well crashes. Railworks is the only program I can say I wasted my money on. Crash and lockup, and the answer is email the company and hope your crash is fixed in the next update..

Never complain about Trainz.

Yes, the grafic is good --> that's all. I know.
I don't want to buy Rail Works - I has RS (1) and resell it, for RS (2) you need a "STEAM-ACCOUNT".

In Rail Simulator (1) there are so many things I hate - I'm back in Trainz. For example you can only drive one train in same time and there are not a AI.
That's only the one thing I wish to have nicer in Trainz = the grafic.
The program and functions for it self are brilliant.

I test the "surveyor" for RS - Trainz is much easier.
I wait (TM) for the grafic-wish.

Poor Woody, sometimes it seems as though you can't say anything right, I feel for you bud.

This thread somehow got me to thinking that a long time ago we were all exploring the features of the new games on line. Now it seems to me that the majority of the exciting new game features are being discussed at Trainz Dev by the intellectually elite of our community, almost as if the game has over reached itself, and has gotten too complicated for the average user.
The creating community has shrunk, and those that remain are struggling to use different building methods.

We used to make reskins with Expresso and Paintshed and we weren't ridiculed for our efforts. TrainzObjectz was about as complicated as things got and we didn't need special programs to make content work in the latest version. Good times...good times....

Such is the cost of progress I suppose.

Discuss among yourselves, you may flame me if you like, I won't be responding...

I'm trying to learn many aspects of game and content creating, so I hope to begin supplying new and exciting things to this game in the future, however I have said this before and got much negative comments telling me that I ma only talking and not doing, how must I do, if I do not learn?:hehe:
Anyway,
I hope to be able to learn these things and make a contribution.

The future is bright for Trainz and hopefully I'll be a part of it.

I tried to convince myself not to post here, but I've just got to comment. From my observations over the past 3 years here, It's become very clear to me that anytime that MSTS is brought up, a flame war erupts, whether intentional or not. It's just something that happens and therefore I just don't pay a lot of attention to them. The same thing happens everytime someone starts a thread about which version of Trainz is the best. It's a shame, but it seems to always degrade into a flame war.

I've always been told not to discuss politics or religion if you want to keep harmony. I think we can add 'MSTS' and 'Trainz versions' to that list.

Ed, I'd have to agree with you about content creation. It used to be fun because it was so simple, but it's beginning to get so complicated that I'm beginning to lose interest. I wasn't looking for a job when I started creating.

I am working on a layout for members to run, time is key with that.
I try to post industry news, yet no one has anything good to say there, I try to post event reminders for my museum, I also try to help with problems and I do do with patience rather than just getting mad.

It isn't about contributing content....he was talking about forum contributions....the increasing waffling threads. You're relatively new to the forum, but subject matter such as in this thread you started has always caused disagreements and in the case of sound in Trainz, it has been covered abundantly in the past.....simply saying that Auran should adopt MSTS's sound ability is too simplistic. If it was easy, they would have done it.....the thread really serves no purpose which in the past was considered waffling....
