Czech screenshots (HI-RES)

Large 3-8 story residential houses, typical for east-european cities such as Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Kraków or Brno. I'm sure you'll find them usefull.

I already did (some time ago), thank you :) And they're great!

I know the site and I keep following it for a lot of useful stuff is there. I only didn't have them yet at the time I printed the shot above :o

The site grms linked is really good, I'm glad I know about it.

Outstanding atmosphere. Typical Czech climates. Czech railroading can take one to a huge amount of local lines with great landmarks, sites and architecture.

This must be a very cool map. Is it published anywhere or maybe going to be?

Impressing shots...

The balance between scenery, tracks and buildings are just about perfect.

Looking forward to see more;)

I love the operation near the PL/CZ border. That's why I created an international map some time ago. Mountain terrains at the border of these 2 countries make railroading the best of the best.

My screenshots will probably be no match for Nohabb's, but let's give it a try.

A night train combined of ĆD WLAB51 & WLAB52 cars moving on Trutnov Porici - Kralovec line, captured at one of the line's greatest landmarks -> "Bernarticky Most" is the thing. Just 6/7km from polish border.

The same train captured about 15 minutes earlier at another interesting site. Just before the station of Trutnov Porici two lines came across one over another with double bridge crossing. The line under is the Teplice N' Met - Trutnov Hl.N route, with the '853' moving as a local service. At the upper bridge with the night train, that's Trutnov Hl.N - Jaromer trail. This is one of my favourite places on the map. I especially like 350's bridge model

Great pics, kilanziom! The first one is really impressive!

You're a real "connoisseur" of Czech railway :) The idea of a narrow gorge spanned with a bridge - I guess you got the bridge in the picture by combining the two built-in British bridges, didn't you. How smart ;)

BTW the map is unfortunately not finished or published and is not going to be... At the moment, I keep working on a similar one with the same purpose: to catch the typical atmosphere of a Czech local railway.

Will post some more shots soon.

Of course any shots with similar theme are welcome :)

Hey Nohab I see you worked with your layout also inside the bigger city areas. I would reccomend to download the Big Rowhouse Pack from www.gwtteam.eu, we made it especially for town areas. Large 3-8 story residential houses, typical for east-european cities such as Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Kraków or Brno. I'm sure you'll find them usefull.

Some of you might know that I used to work on a PL/CZ border layout taking place in Krkonose/Orlicke Hory area. This 181km long map's beta version is downloadable from www.gwtteam.eu too. It's known as "Sudety" map. It takes you for a tour from Jaromer up to Wałbrzych Główny. Lots of action. :D

Here is a screen from this map's Czech side 'o border:

Hi,

Where can I download this "Ludmilla" from?

Cheers, Ron.

Well actually the line and the bridge are real and based on real Krkonose lines. The "Bernarticky Viadukt" is a real place on that line, and since I lacked good add-ons when I built the "sudety 1996" map, I used the twin british bridges :)

The same with the other bridge, at Trutnov Porici.

The ĆSD T679.2 001 is our new project with Rene Stambke. It was changed to look prototypical and received the 'lignting control rule". Downloadable from www.gwtteam.eu , via forum nowadays.

Absolutely fabulous screenies Nohabb, very life-like, wonderful...
It reminds me of my trip to Praha last December, very wintry....

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Hi Nohabb:wave:

That route is so beautiful, where can I get it? Or is this another one of your routes that is not yet finished;)?

WileeCoyote:D

Thank you, folks.

That route is so beautiful, where can I get it? Or is this another one of your routes that is not yet finished

Unfortunately you're quite right. I started this one last year but as the winter was poor in snow, I gave up after some 5 kms of the route.

However, I really intend to finish it up and as I've been inspired by the weather lately I guess I could manage it :) I hope to do it before the spring comes :D

Will post more screens as the work is in progress.

Have a nice Sunday!

Year 1967. Lubawka border station.

ĆSD '475' steam engine is waiting for the upcoming polish freight that just passed a 9km long, 80m high route from Kamienna Góra. The ĆSD steamer will take over the train here and move it through Kralovec down to Male Svatanovice.

Awesome atmosphere in the picture! :)

Was the Lubawka - Kralovec route in use at that time? I read that it was closed after World War II.

Oh yes.

In 1936 germans electrified the line from Marciszów to Lubawka and heavy passenger/freight movement was there. In 1945 the passenger service was re-established in the region. Trains from Wrocław Gł. to Praha Hl.N. used this passage. In 1947 the passenger border trains were cancelled. In 1948 the red army dismantled the electric catenary. This however left the Lubawka-Kralovec line still heavily used by freight trains. Till 2001 the ĆD '753' or '742' from Trutnov came everyday with a long freight of Fal/Fals/Eaos cars and PKP ST43/SM42 took over. In 2003 freight service was cancelled and in 2004 finally passenger service Wałbrzych - Lubawka was cancelled, leaving the border passage abandoned. The tracks were dismounted on the border line. Again in 2006 ĆD started transporting wood from Kralovec to Lubawka (funny train, just one "eas" car with '742' diesel) so the tracks were rebuilt. Lubawka station is in horrible shape. Most tracks are covered with grass and trees, only 2 are in resaonable shape. On Czech side, the Kralovec - Zacler, Kralovec - Trutnov trails are still used both passenger and freight service. In 2004 we even had a steam excursion from Jaromer to celebrate Czech Republic and Poland's joining with UE, the steam train travelled from Jaromer to Kamienna Góra thrrough Lubawka and Kralovec.
