This error?
- VE71: Unsupported SpeedTree version for mesh: speedtreemesh.srt
Then the trees use an older version of SpeedTree, which is not supported in T:ANE. As i can see on the most trees, they are made for Trainz 2010, not for T:ANE.
Regards,
Roine

If the error is the one Roine has posted, only the creator is able to resolve this (or you could replace the trees in an earlier version of Trainz with ones that will work in T:ANE).

Shane

The trees have to be replaced with TANE compatible trees in an earlier version like Shane said, then those can be replaced in TANE with Speedtrees:

This is the Durango route.

Replaced the track with procedural 891mm track from this site:

Those pine trees look odd with layers of branches stacked on the tree trunk.
Think I have replaced those with others since that screen shot to show the retrack, there are lots of trees on DLS.

Hi and thank you all very much for the suggestions. I was not sure of the age of the Durango route but it did look like it was older. I really appreciate the help on all of this, the proceedural track replacement is i fear beyond my abliity to replace but i may be able to deal with the trees...will see if i can figure out how that can be done....thanks again all

I have new Depots made for the route and a lot of other new structures and hoped to try them out on the route. I live in Pagosa Springs near by and know the route and the equipment very well....and am working on a number of Colorado routes including Rollins Pass (Moffat Road, 1910 and 1950), Giplin Tramway 1910 and Cripple Creek 1910 and RGS making mines for Pandora.

Does anyone know who made SpeedTrees and how to get in touch with them?

Chris,

To update your currently installed track to Pro-track, you can use the bulk replace assets tool, which is located on the File menu. Simply put in what you want to replace in one column by dragging that item into it from the list of tracks in the Surveyor track menu. And repeat with the track you want to replace it with in the other column. Hit the replace button and watch the progress bar. :)

Once replaced you do need to check the switches because if your track is too tight, they will not work and will actually show a red circle instead of white or yellow. To fix you need to drag the track a bit and change the diverging point of the points.

Anyway...

The trees in Harold's picture look like RMM's wonderful creations. The others, the ones with the square branches I think came from Pofig, who is no longer active as far as I know.

RMM's trees are available on the DLS. All of his trees begin with st_ and have RMM in the name. For these spruce or pines, look for Elka since he's a Russian content creator. The good news is he has made a bunch of similarly named trees in TS12 and shares the same Kuid but at a lower version number. This means you can install the route in TS12 and replace the trees there using the replace asset tool, and then import the route into T:ANE. When you bring the route into T:ANE, along with its dependencies, the trees will be marked as out of date, which means you can download the T:ANE version.

Sadly Britanny, (mcguirel) is no longer doing stuff in Trainz, and seems to have disappeared from the forums.

If you are interested in creating your own Speed Trees, you'll need to purchase an expensive developer kit from IDV. http://www.speedtree.com/ I've never fully pursued this avenue due to the cost and I'm not sure if you need a special developer plug-in to their program to create T:ANE compatible trees. To be honest, replacing them with RMM's creations might be the best route to go in the long run that's the easiest way. That is, unless, you are interested in creating trees yourself.

There are bunches of freeware mcguirel trees on DLS and are the best looking north American deciduous trees:
