CSX GP-40-2's

Had you done some research, you would have found that information is quite well stated on several web sites. 2006 is also no longer supported (ie free DLS access).
-We're currently at version TS12 (2012), so it should be no surprise that older versions are obsolete.

Just curious, where did you find a "new" copy of Trainz 2004 in this year, 2013? (perhaps you can return it for a refund, or credit towards TS2010).
There are plenty of brand new, sealed box, discs, of all the unsupported Trainz versions, on EBay and Amazon ... etc ...

And they all work just fine and dandy.

Then why can't the distributors of custom assets include the deps as well to prevent this from happening in the first place. :( If I had know that I would not be able to access the DLS without a FCT then I wouldn't have bought TRS2004 at all. :(

Since TS10 is on sale for $10 and TS04 is almost A DECADE old, I certainly hope you are not out more than about $2 or $3 for your purchase.

It's called research, as you would then have known about it's unsupport, and requirement for a FCT ... And you can access the DLS in TRS2004 ... if you buy TS10, or TS12, or a FCT, but there are no gaurantees that the DLS will function correctly in TRS2004.

If you have a low end PC, you can still have decades of more fun with TRS2004, TRS2006, UTC, TC1&2

Sometimes, you can backdate the config files of the assets, and backdate all the assets dependencies, and they will work in your version, I stress the word: "Sometimes".

Everything you need to get those CSX locomotives running in TRS2004 SHOULD be available on USLW. Some of the best looking and running units out there. Get the GP-40 dependancy pack. Along with the SD-40 dependency pack. Been a while, some dependancies may be in other locomotive downloads. I remember the Wisconsin Southern units needed the ATSF Sd-40 units to run. Or the other way around. Trucks were the hang up there.
Don't give up. Download everything USLW has for locomotives. Dependencies are there. Just not listed individually.
No need to buy another iteration of Trainz. Take you hours just editing the cabs to get those CSX units running in 2009 or above.
Been there, done that.

I can't remember if it was TRS2004 or TRS206. Some of those CSX units had double horn sounds in the Config file. There were for cabs.*
Take a working unit and match the config files, best I can explain it. There should be two entries. One listing the dependancy by name, another with just the kuid number.

Firstly I bought the SoldOut\Mastertronics version of TRS2004 v2.4 build 2370 at the local branch of CNA(Central News Agency) earlier this year. They seem to get a lot of stufff that come from the UK.One of the main reasons I got it was that since I had played the demos of Trainz and TRS2006 demo a couple of months before and since it was on my list of game to get when I saw it in store I thought I was seeing things and later I went back to buy it.

I was surprised as I have never seen any version of TRS on the shelves of any store here near where I live in South Africa and the "promise" of access of more custom content for TRS2004 was one of the main reasons I bought it.I felt cheesed off when I found out that I can't access the DLS anymore just because TRS2004 is an old version of TRS. I understand the 100MB limit and 5kb/s per day limit but come on!Auran should have made sure that older versions like TRS2004 and 2006 are not being sold anymore when they decided to block accesss to the DLS unless you bought a FCT for those versions of TRS!

That version of TRS2004 is still being sold at CNA so many more cheesed off people.Like I have stated in another thread here I wouldn't mind getting TRS2010(being full patched though on dvd) as TRS2012 has the problem with regard to drm and freeware third party content included with payware content being labeled as payware....

I paid R60 which is about US$5.98

I do plan to download a number of locos from USLW but it is tiring having to download this, download that just to get this to work... :(

What is printed on a 9 year old box of Corn Flakes breakfast cerial, the manufacturer can not be held accountable for any promises, or guarantees for freshness and wholesomeness ... let the buyer beware.

You can still buy a 1965 Corvair, Pinto, Vega, on the interwebs, and at car shows ... even though they were death traps, and should have been involved in a total market re-call.

Well I downloaded the SD40-2 deps and already have the GP40 deps installed and those 3 C40-8 still are missing those kuids. :( Will try and download the ones for TRS2004 that I have bookmarked but even some of those requires stuff from the DLS :n:.

Can someone who knows anyone at USLW ask them to please fix some of the items for download and add the kuid number to the download page for each item as I haven't a clue on which horn sound I should download as I had downloaded the following F7A's and F7B's and all of them have the same missing kuids: kuid:267178:1541 (NYC F7A #1707), kuid:267178:1542 (NYC F7B #2452), kuid:267178:1526 (NYC F7A #1787), kuid:267178:1527 (NYC F7B #2443), kuid:267178:1555 (B&M F7A #4266), kuid:267178:1559 (B&M F7B #4266B).MISSING DEPENDENCIES:[white kuid2:45324:10104:1][red kuid2:45324:10101:1][green kuid2:45324:10103:1][ctex_lib kuid2:45324:28100:10][ kuid2:45324:50022:23][ kuid:37581:1151].I plan to download more F7A's and F7B's compatible for TRS2004 in the hope that one of them will have the kuids I need but this is just pissing me off!I just wish Auran would allow us to access the DLS but I don't mind the 100MB(even a 50MB limit I wouldn't mind as long as I can resume downloads the next day) and 5kb/s limit per day at all... :( I really wonder if all this trouble is worth it in the end even if I get a newer version of Trainz like TRS2010?Thanks.BTW for some weird unknown reason the forum is messing up my post when I try to add kuids number it deletes them if they have the greater than and less than signs before and after each kuid number so I can't post properly???Plus the formatting is messed up so I can't post properly?

You can change the horn sound in the Config file to one you have. Open it in a text editor, change the kuid listed for the horn and also in the list of kuids at the bottom. It will be in two places.
