CRRM: 346 Steam up April 19th

I agree with sampug394,it is better if #20 is handled by pros at steam restoration and besides moving steam locomotives from railroad museum to railroad museum is really insane, they already have enough steam engines to work with, what more could they want, are you out of your mind, the costs of such a task is staggering and to me it is a no go, I preffer that the most steam engines stay where they are unless otherwise on loan to another railroad museum,it is almost no wonder why England is ahead of us in steam locomotive preservation to operation, but what we should concern ourself with is RGS 20 and 346!:(

Sampug,

If your free at all this weekend, would be a good weekend to pay the musuem a visit. Were having 2 straight day's of work sessions (today would be the third day). We moved RPO #60 into the roundhouse for perhaps the first time ever, to work on what's left of the south side (facing away from the viewing windows). Rico is getting its pin Striping finished on the far end, I primed the step covers and treated the wood for them.

Rumor has it that once the CB&Q caboose is finished, GP-30 3011 will take its place, but I cannot confirm nor deny that, as projects always seem to pop up and get in the way

Sounds good, but I'm going up to Windsor this weekend. :hehe:

I apparently seem to end up at the museum on the most offbeat days...

you know that the grand canyon railroad in AZ owns CB&Q 4960.:)

WHAT THE HELL?

There was no mention at ALL about the Grand Canyon, Arizona, or 4960 in any of that post! Why the hell did you post that?!?!? IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!

Furthermore, what was the point of that post anyway??? Most every railfan with a brain cell knows about this! You're not being clever, you're not being intelligent. If you want to post in the future, make your post relevant to the discussion.

...and that doesn't mean picking a random thing that happens to do with something that you know of, either!!!

Ok, I'm better now. Getting back to 346, here's something I wonder. Though I know that 346 was built in 1881, is that what it's current appearance looks like?

Mixed really. Her cab is not technically correct, C19's had wood cabs, but the C&S installed a steel cab on 346 in the 30's after they rolled it over near Kenosha pass. It has 318's tender since work on 346's tender is not yet complete. She has a bright green boiler jacket, which has faded over the years (hence the bright green).

I'll take some pictures tomorrow, we moved her outside today to put RPO 60 in the roundhouse, so she is in the good natural Colorado lighting

WRONG.

The Durango and Silverton was founded in 1981. The Rio Grande line into Durango was founded in 1880, though the tracks arrived in 1881-1882.

Also, thanks Klinger

the crrm is like the EASTY but it was not in the coal fields of pa. beside ebt 15 is the oldset narrow gague steamer east of the rockies.:)

Try April 3rd then, the day before Easter, 346 will be running

What does that have to do with Colorado Narrow Gauge?
it said cb&q and it made me think of the grand canyon railroad 4960. and i think colorado narrow gauge is different then pa narrow gauge because co hauled gold and PA HAULED COAL.:)
