Crossing the E,J, & E...

No Friend requests please
I just drove my car over the EJ&E tracks that cross Rt. 14 (Northwest Hwy) in Barrington, IL. The CN have erected a couple of blue road signs, (very small....like a parking sign) that warn of "Increased Train Traffic".

Priceless.

Yeah, thats pretty funny. I remember when the CN took over Illinois Central, traffic went up a little. I sure hate to see EJ&E go. Hats off to the J for staying alive so long!

Ed I have those in my town as well. I cross those same tracks you cross in that same town 4 days a week! 3 for class, 1 for work!

The weird thing is that I haven't seen any increase in traffic by me! I wonder what time those 20+ trains go through every single day!

20 trains per day / 24hrs = 1.2 trains/hr

Actually Canadian National-Illinois Central put up the signs, there is going to be an increase from 4 trains a day to 28 over the next year. Alot of suburban communities are complaining about the increase, I say, you live in a city as it is, whats is one more noise?

simple the town I work in (Barrington) the EJ&E crosses 3 major roads within a 1/2 mile radius. US Rute 14, Lake Cook Road, and IL 59 with no bridges/underpasses. At least I have more railfan opportunities :)
