Crop Dusters

Dave,

I tested the Air Tractor AT802A Crop Duster Startup and the Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 Crop Duster Startup in TRS19sp1. They would move down the "track", but was hoping for more.

Didn't accomplish much until reading the config file. Pressing B does indeed trigger a startup sequence, but you still have to use a throttle or a drive command to get it to move.

The V command didn't work until moving faster than 40mph/65kph. Somewhat above that speed the V did toggle the dusting on and off.

I didn't test anything else.

Here is a portion of the config file ...

"A flyable Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 crop dusting aircraft, a light aircraft that was built in 1936. The aircraft tilts and banks realistically. The speed for tilting may be altered in the string table above - speeds are in kph. Note landing speed above is a fraction of full speed, eg 0.45, not kph.

It does not have an operating interior, but does have various exterior views based on an invisible interior, use the [ and ] keys from the interior view. It does load fuel and crop spray at suitable airports. Initially the engines are stopped. Use the B key to start or stop engines. On startup, the pilot tests the rudder and tail elevators.

The aircraft has a number of animations that can be operated by keyboard keys, or the Aircraft Action Trigger, kuid3:76656:24060:1, when placed on track and set to the correct number:

- to start engines, press the B key or use trigger setting 2. An engine start rule is also available for AI.
- the aircraft will issue smoke to simulate crop dusting, use the V key or trigger 3.
- issue smoke and sound from the tyres when landing, use trigger setting 4.
- to flare the aircraft for landing, trigger setting 7 or V key.
- come to a gradual stop on landing, trigger setting 9.
- set speed to 40% of maximum speed, for landing approach, trigger setting 14."

happy dusting!

I have set up the crop duster on my Wilsons Mills and Mount Olive route to do exactly what you are talking about and the driver is AI. You might want to look at how I did it there, rather then me trying to explain the set up here.

Oh just forget it. I'm tired of Trainz anyhow. Tired of consists not behaving as ordered. Tired of the Gimme Pigs wanting this then wanting that. Just tired.

Carl, you sent me the same set up to two different emails. I couldn't get the spray to work using that method. I thought you were going to show me how to get it to work in TRS19? I'm sorry if I misunderstood.

I'm just peaved because yesterday I spent three hours building an airport for twin engine jets, and I couldn't get it to work correctly. Then finally when I did get it working the jet just disappears! You can still see the flashing lights and see it in map view but in the game it's invisible. And the landing gear never did retrack, even when taking off at 300kph. Finally I just abandoned the whole thing, deleted my airport and put in some farm fields. Yes, this is a TRAIN/RAILROAD game, but it's much more than that when you can make airports and planes flying overhead and have ships and yachts crusing on the water. It just gets so frustrating at times I just want to quit.
