Couple of noob questions. need help

I have been playing TS12 for a couple days now and I have two questions that I can't find answers to in the manual:

1. How do I turn on the roof beacon in the locomotives (IE the ATSF SD45 and C30-7)

2. I don't understand the couple strain diagram. What do the numbers and colors mean? Higher the number, more the stress?

Any help?

I may be wrong but the beacons are turned on by hitting the end key or what ever the pantograph key is.

Regarding the coupler strain diagram. The darker the red the closer you are to breaking couplers. The same goes for the numbers. You want to keep those numbers very low. So go through the throttles very slow. Remember when at the cab, you're in no rush.
