Content Updates?

So I bought the game last night, got everything downloaded and applied the patches. Looking good so far. Had a question. When I go into the game menu, it says under the content menu option 423 updates exist. Are these updates to the core game itself and should I download? Or are these user made content updates? I haven't downloaded any user made content yet so not sure how there would be updates to apply already.

The updates mentioned are user-created updates.

Be aware that for that quantity of updates, you may need to buy and activate a First Class Ticket.

Thanks...but dumb question. I haven't downloaded any user made content yet so not sure how any of mine would require any updating since none should exist on my system yet. Or maybe I am just not understanding what these are

The majority of content in Trainz is user-created, even if it's built-in to the game.

If you have not yet downloaded any new content, the updates will be for content that is built-in to the game.

Gotcha....that makes sense. I did not know they base game had user content built in.....thank you for the clarification.

Note that the "update" content option in game can download while you play and it does not count towards your 100mb/day download limit.

Sure, it will take some time (took me 4 days), but you can perfectly play the game without them or while they download in the background .

I should imagine that what you are seeing are probably kuids that were in TS10 that were left out of TS12 but was later added to the DLS so that TS12 would be more back-wards compatible with TS09 &10 routes.

It's OK - you will find there is even more content available on the Download Station. Be aware though that some of it may require some changes to it (fixes) for it to work in TS12.

Bear in mind also that Trainz is international, don't go downloading every update just because it is available. No point downloading updates of content that you are never going to use!

That is true...but pretty daunting to sort through tons of content out there to decide what you want That is a good problem to have!

I would advise not to download any of the updates yet. Have a look at the routes and see which "style"/country etc you may like the most. In Content Manager you are able to check out the content (even built-in) for a route and it will tell you which content has updates available. You can then download ONLY these updates for now. As you progress with Trainz you may find you need more updated content ......... I know I repaired at least 2,000 items and other members just as many or more. So there are a lot out there.
