Content Manager

Hi all,

Having been away from Trainz I seem to have forgotten a good deal.

I just purchased 2009. (had 2006).

In content manager, I selected a few layouts that I wanted to download, then started the process.

The size of the download in the upper left (above the download list) started out at around 600 Mbytes. Then this morning it had increased to 1.76 GB and just now when I restarted Content Manager (having selected no additional items for download) it is not telling me that I am trying to download 5.6 GB or 5.6GB.

Is this number growing as the number of dependencies is increasing as CM checks each file?

Is there anyway to know how large it is going to get? I have tons of HDD space, but with this much in the queue, CM is sluggish at best. It seems to stall frequently for up to a minute or more, then downloads a file quickly, then stalls again. Sometimes it stalls in the middle of downloading a small file.

I'm trying to understand what I've gotten myself into. Also, is there any way to tell when a particular layout is done, or should I have selected only one at a time and then let it complete before putting another one in CM?

Thanks,

the filesize depends on how many files are in it ...the more the files the more gigabytes will be made..

on the trainz darjeeling , my pc found 27,000 folders , and over 100,000 items!

Major,
You'll find life is better if you only try downloading 1 large file at a time. TS2009 does more file checking as it downloads, and it also compresses texture files before it commits them. For a file with lots of dependencies, like a route, it takes a lot of additional time to commit each dependency as it is downloaded. Bottom line, CMP may do a lot of pausing while downloaded large routes.

You don't say you've purchased a First class ticket, and if that is indeed the case, that is also limiting your download speed.
