CMP!!!

I have had every version of trainz since it came out.
I use trains every day and download whatever strikes my eye.
Sometimes CMP works great and sometimes it does not cooperate at all???
I do the same procedure EVERYTIME.
I think maybe the dls server must get overloaded or sometimes what I'm downloading has a faulty asset and locks up CMP.
When it doesn't work I have to reboot my computer again and start all over.
So it's just a crap shoot whether it works or not:'(

If you are willing to wait up to half an hour for the database to update, CMP will be fine. But that's not what we expect from our computers and software these days. And maybe the users that report no problems aren't very adventurous, eg they never try to use CCP.
I've noticed that sometimes the cursor stays in hourglass mode, and as soon as you move it to another area it goes back to arrow mode. That isn't right.

I never used CCP except 1-2 times to see what happened. Took too long and I got lost. I stick to modifying config files manually.;)
As to database updates, anytime it takes 30 seconds to 1 minute plus, I just hit Esc to end that and I can use CMP normally. On average every 2-4 times I open CMP, it updates quick.

When I first used CMP and Trainz on Vista it was rough. Had XP before and it worked flawlesly. Big difference when on Vista.

Now it seem to run smooth as silk. After awhile CMP knows what to do and does it thing no problem. Haven't had to delete assets.tdx or .bku lately. So I'm happy. :D :)

Downloads great too.

Cheers,
Adam

Oi ! ( You people know who you are ) this thread is about who dosen't get CMP problems not " Lets have another go at it" get your own thread if you want to talk about that and don't ruin mine !

I've never had any problems with CMP (appart from the occasional crash, but a simple restart tends to fix this). Its a bit concerning reading all these stories of horror on the forums about CMP and I live in fear of the day when mine explodes.

Right boss

I can honestly say that cmp offers a different experience, and definitely without a shadow of doubt, has cmp..ih qualities that are unique for a cmp program. I can only add ..sorry must go coffee is ready:p

Little hard to know what to say to a thread about a nonproblem! I, too, have had no real problems with the CMP. I had to learn to use it, but that was my problem, not CMP's. There was a time when I think that there was an issue with Planet Auran that looked like a CMP problem in that it could not verify my identity and serial number without my going into Planet Auran and pushing some buttons. Biut that was Planet Auran, not CMP. Whatever that problem was, it as been fixed.

The CMP is the main reason I stay with 2006 rather than go back to 2004. A lot of 2004 stuff has errors not recognized except by 2004 that are recognized by 2006 and result in the black fault pages. But, the ease of downloading, including auto-finding downloading of dependencies if they are on the DLS, auto-installing, and auto-committing make me want never to go back to 2004. In fact, I forget how to install assets to 2004.

The CMP is a definite improvement to Trainz.
