I am inclined to agree with you steve, i got sick of the no access to the DLS so i bought a year subscription and i have never looked back. With the sale that was on i only payed about £15 (never look as something in Australian dollars and think it is expensive until you have converted it ;) )

That plus A years subscription to xbox live for just £23 is me set until December 2011!

i bet it didnt need more than one attempt to get the money from the credit card did it ?

I assume you have done the usual workrounds?
The refresh profile password on line should be done without Trainz running, if it doesn't work delete cookies and temporary files and then try it. It can take a few minutes or so on a bad day to update on line.

The refresh in Content manager is delete, save, exit, restart re-enter.
If it doesn't work then try again and reboot after the first exit.

If only happening since TS12 then check your firewall is allowing TS12 content manager full access.

Note: I have noticed that sometimes in CM when you haven't got access, you have re-saved login details although the download manager is not active you can still actually download, just can't see what's happening. possibly the software isn't refreshing that part of the dialogue for some reason.

You can however watch TadDaemon and TrainzUtil if enabled.

Also if Win7 or Vista try changing the properties for ContentManager.exe to Run as Administrator.
 
Just a thought.

I had a similar connection problem which turned out to be a corrupted Trainz installation. The symptom was that all menu buttons worked with the exception of 'start" and "content".
Following Zec Murphys installation procedure EXACTLY, and working through the installation of the patches worked for me. I had to download and install Trainz 2010 four times before achiving a happy result. ANY strange error messages during an installation indicates a bad installation. Reread Zec's instruction and start again.

If 2010 works OK, Then most likely it is a firewall/security issue. You may need to add 2012 as an allowable exception.

In TS10, doing an extended database repair seemed to help in getting a stuborn FCT to show up. Haven't had any problems with TS12 myself, but its worth a try.
