Content for trainz 2010

so i just got the new 2010 engineers edition, its been years since i played trainz, i had the original one back in the day when it came out but havnt been able to take it back up til now haha.

ok so my question is, why doesnt any of the engines or rollingstock i download from the download station work in 2010? i know 99% of everything on there is for trainz 2004 and 2006 it seems, but will they absolutly not work in 2010?

Hi michael3e8,

The newer versions of Trainz i.e. 2009 and 2010 are more fussy than 2004 when checking for errors. Most 2004 and 2006 content can be made to work in 2010 but you have to fix the errors. Errors wil show up in CMP3.2 and can be fixed by editing the config.txt file. My suggestion is to download an item which is made specifically for 2010 and compare the config.txt file with one from an earlier version item. Quite a lot of the earlier versions are easy to fix, they might just have a tag that is now obsolete or have something entered with the wrong syntax. The other thing to watch is the engine config.txt file for a loco, earlier versions have much lower power when running in 2010
