Container station

Hi;
I am trying to figure out how to load/unload containers at the container station.
I have a train on the 20ft container track, issue a navigate to container station command.
The train backs up to the station, stops numerous times until the locomotive is directly under the crane. Then nothing happens.

Do I need to bring the train into the station in the forward direction?

Also, I want to create a trash train using JR's trash containers and flats. How do I get these specific containers to load at the station, or do I need a different asset alltogether?

Thanks for your help

Has you depot got any containers to load? like the real world it needs an input from some source to produce them. Check the depot and see how many containers you have started with (use the ? in the objects tab and click the asset to see).

There are lots of containers in the depot.
I have to try running into it from the other end.

is it the build in station?????
Yes. It's the built-in "Container Station", but not the "basic" version.
The cranes aren't moving. Only the forklift is moving back and forth, and the container stack changes every minute or so.

I am going to see if I can find a route, built-in with TS12, or on DLS that uses the container station, so I can get an idea of how to set it up.

Try this

If you use the built-in container depot (not basic) built-in to TS2010, as I do, (which is the same container depot from TC1&2), the forklift moves but the yellow cranes do not, but the cranes will load containers if you use the right rail cars. I use TTX Econo, sent to the 40ft container loading crane, and under the yellow cranes you will load double stacked containers (and not the same containers on each car). The result is a realistic double stacked container train with a variety of containers. You may need to use taller tunnels and raise some highway bridges that pass over the track. It makes no difference which direction the train runs through the container loading point.

As far as the setup is concerned, click on it and you will see all you need to do is establish a starting amount for 20ft, 40ft, and general goods (I only use the 40ft container loading point). This setting will determine how many containers are visible. The other setting is "produces per minute". That's it -very simple.

By default, TTX Econo has settings for 40ft containers, max load 2, so there is nothing for you do, unless you don't want to double stack, in which case you could change the max load to 1. It can also load 20ft containers.

I am fairly sure that your difficulties are related to the choice of container car, (PS-double check that you didn't accidentally forget to use the "load" command after navigating to the container port in the driver's instructions) so try TTX Econo which I believe you will like. Once that's working, you can experiment with others container cars if you feel the need to.

At the port end, everything I use is scratch built, (although you could use the built in port but it also handles things like coal which I have no need for and its too big). For my port, for unloading I use a multiple-industry basic (although a multi-industry basic new would also work), and then I use container crane 2 to simulate the unloading from the container car onto the container ship.

As far as trash is concerned, the container depot only consumes general goods and produces containers, so to get into trash, which I have not done, will require the use of separate facilities, most likely using multiple industry basic - new at both origin and destination. There may even be industres specifically for trash loading/unloading on the DLS although I have not looked for them.

Thank you for your help on this. I will try it with the TTX Econo and other container cars.
I think you're right about the trash containers. I wouldn't expect these to be loaded/unloaded at regular container facilities. Perhaps there is a station on the JR download site.

Anyone know where the intermodal station that DOES have working cranes is?
I think it's LARS, but not sure. Can't find it on DLS through CM, but I had one a while back and now I can't find it.

Thanks

well lars is just track,,,,,,, but not really,,, i think there a payware that will load & unload,,,

Hi

In TS12 there is an animated one built in made by Ocemy. Search for "CHN container yard basic". You will need to modify some wagons to use it though.
