Config from txt to chump

I have found several items that use to have a config.txt - have become a config.chump. How does one correct this problem. (if possible)
Rename does not work.

In order to see these assets, they need to be imported in the Trainz version they came from. Renaming the file will only break the asset since the chump data is really a compressed form of the text, and outside of Trainz no other program can read them.

I have found many times if you revert the asset in CM and then open it again for edit it will change back into a .txt file.
