Coming soon to a Trainz near you...

Prussia is pretty close, try Russian 2-10-0 #SO17-4377 and I look forward to obtaining and driving it.

If you know where to look, some excited developers don't keep mysteries (secrets) well on their websites.

Colin

PS - SO17-4377 appears as CO17-4377 in Russian Cyrillic alphabet.

I was pulling for the Aerotrain...:(

We all were... :D

Three things that we should take into account:

1. From what I can tell, the Aerotrain came out with some overall low popularity results. This was mostly because it was considered a "failed" engine in reality (In Trainz, it worked fine as one would expect). As such, I expect that N3V has noticed the results and is very wary of creating an engine that people wont like. Obviously you will ALWAYS have someone to spill their milk and cry about how its not their dream engine.

2. The last engine that N3V released was the Aerotrain. Before that was the Coronation Scot. Before that, chinese stock, then Mojave stock and then the PRR T1. As such, I have my severe doubts that this locomotive will be American if they follow the trend.

3. Judging by the boiler dome, the locomotive is not of UK origin (I am kinda sure that the UK did not produce this sort of engine). As such, I honestly believe that it falls into two categories:
- Chinese/Japanese
- Russian/Eastern Europe

You'll notice that I did not include France. The reason for this is quite simple. Trainz 12 does not include many french assets or any french routes. It is composed of Eastern European, the UK, America and notably, Southern China. The silouette of the locomotive resembles Southern China steam engines - being even closer to Japanese.

What does everyone else think of my deductions?

I would also like to thank Shadowarrior for providing a sillouette of the actual locomotive so that people will stop posting idiotic posts about how its the Y6B even though we already have it...

Hey, I'd say after 1,5h of analysing pictures of steam engines it can just be the SO17.
But it looks more like the SO17-2413 because of its pilot which seems more to be made from rods than a steel plate.
Please compare it with this picture. ;)

If you go in detail, even the rod to the coupler looks quite familar in combination with the stairs.

Just saw the picture and was wondering if there was a time when the 4377 had a pilot made of rods...
When were the new one of steel plates attatched?

Penkill was surely right about his thoughts. It has advertised even on one of the Russian site. CO means Sergo Ordzhonikidze, one of the famous politicians in Soviet Russia

I doubt it's a Russian locomotive. Auran (I presume) has very little customer base there...

You're joking, right? The Russian Trainz community is one of the largest and most active there is.

The OP states that 'thousands' of the class were built. That means the only real options are Russia in the Soviet era or possibly China, but posts above indicate that the cat is out of the bag anyway....

I'd guess Russia too; Though I agree with those saying it could be a Prussian 8 (P8 4-6-0). if you look at them both they fit the outline pretty well. And god knows how many of the damn things Wekspoor turned out.

Actually.

I disagree. I believe that there is ONE tiny difference that seperates these two locomotives...

If I am wrong, you all win.

Look at the locomotive silouette on page one. If you look closely at the chimney, you'll see a metallic stick like device attached to the bottom right of it. I cant see that in either video or in the pictures...
