Coming soon to a Trainz near you...

This locomotive was developed during the first half of the 20th Century as an incremental upgrade from a previous highly successful freight engine. A larger boiler was fitted, running at higher pressure. To keep within a tight axle load, an additional axle was also added.

Thousands of these locomotives were built, and while they were quickly displaced from mainline freight, their light axle load ensured a long career on secondary lines.

Can you guess what the mystery train is?

Stay tuned!

Looks like an Aussie loco to me, maybe a New South Wales Government Railways or South Australian Railways loco?

I was hoping for another British loco. :(

Edit: Or if it is Aussie, I'd like something from QR. But it isn't a QR loco, I can tell you that!

ITS A Y6B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its definently European methinks

After some thinking and discussion with a fellow trainzer, we're speculating on VR J or K class (leaning more towards the K Class)

Good thought Mulie, it may be, but I'm thinking some things look different (IMO)

It definitely looks European to me but could be anything from France right through to Russia since I'm not well versed in locos across the Channel. Or perhaps Chinese.

Guys it's not a VR K or J class those have already been made for trainz by Bill fock and Zec why would you want a new one?
hmm this Loco has a bell Aussie steamers don't have bells. i agree with what teddytoot said it definitely looks European.

The Duchess and Coronation were both existing models. ;)

And I think European might be a fair guess too.

Hmm, looking at the windplates the shadow looks very much like a German BR 17.0.
A guess of course. :hehe:

Greetings from rainy Amsterdam,

Yeah, I seriously doubt that it's an Aussie loco - for one thing the description mentions 'thousands of locos built' of that type, in which case that automatically counts Australia out sadly (as far as I'm aware none of our railways ever had loco classes with quite so many members on their books).

The top image makes me think of a US loco, but I'm inclined to agree with what has been said and say that it's probably a European loco (the Alpine scenery in the background of the top image seems suspicious to me ;)). Either way, this is interesting.

As I was re-reading I figured that too

The top image is a Y6B, included in TS12 and is used on the starter screen

It might be a Prussian P8!

It matches the description almost entirely, and the ones with deflectors match the shadow!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_P_8

An upgraded version of the P 6, which was a 2-6-0, this is a 4-6-0, there's the upgraded version of existing loco proof, and the extra axle proof.

Those look too big Phil.

To support my side of the argument:
1. The deflectors on the pics Phil posted look too short
2. The smokestack on the loco Phil posted looks way too small
3. The overall loco in Phil's post looks too long and has too many wheels. IMHO, it would never be used on secondary lines!

And anyway, what does the correct guesser win?
