If your talking about the UP, CNW, SP San Francisco overland, that would be interesting, it had the first hamburger grill car

there is no such thing as a 4-3-3-4, there is such a thing as a 4-6-6-4, a 4-4-4-4, and a 4-8-8-4, but a locomotive can not have an uneven wheel arrangement

Actually, the method that he is using to describe the locomotive is the alternative style which no sane person uses to this day (Sorry, true fact)

The wheel arrangement that he saying is for ONE side of the locomotive. So in terms that we understand, that would actually be 8-6-6-8. But even so, I can't picture a train with that sort of wheel arrangement. (Not logically anyway...)

WOW, they really did do the Aerotrain, not completely surprised but

A quote from wiki
"GM's "lightweight with a heavyweight future" was introduced at a time when U.S. passenger train revenues were steadily declining due to competition from airlines and private automobile travel. Although it featured an eye-catching, streamlined design, the Aerotrain failed to capture the imagination of the American public. The cars, based on GM bus designs and using an air cushioning system, were rough riding and not very comfortable for the passengers. The design of the locomotive section rendered even routine maintenance extremely difficult and time-consuming. The locomotive unit was also underpowered. Eventually, both trainsets were retired in 1966 after only a decade's use."

So....who is the first to order this....
Just waiting for initial impressions!

It looks alright but I am a UK Steam enthusiast so I won't be getting it.
Before they start working on any new content (Despite the amazing quality that it has been) I think it would be nicer if they worked on bugs.

aerotrain

the ugliest of all the passenger trains

i would have picked a better train to model

Coming from someone who hasnt registered a single copy of Trainz and this is his first post... I wont say anything else...

As for bugs. I keep running into a road block with Steam CAB mode in Trainz 2012 where I can't touch the cab controls inside the engine - with any steam engine. It really ticks me off because it's fine with diesels, etc.

But I was also hoping for simulator engine overhauls. There's alot of adjustments they could do to make it more realistic...

Oh... a swing and a miss! What a hideous, forlorn, fugly, best forgotten, miscarriage of engineering!

I bet they would have gotten more orders had it been the Y6B...:(

Per Mattm...It will spawn threads that cry long and loud about how N3V are ripping off loyal customers, and creating hype about a product that they had no plans to ever produce, when it is revealed that their newest release is not the N&W Y6B that is so clearly evident in the original post of this thread.
TBD

Have fun,

Popcorn anyone?:o

Odd

The first mention of the Aerotain was by Alex77 in post #9 in this thread but...

The first mention of the GM Train of Tomorrow was by NikkiA in post #7.

While N3V's advert is named Aerotrain the first line of the description reads as "GM's Train of Tomorrow".

A Google search for Train of Tomorrow results in the 1947 all Dome car train from many different sources.

So who wins the cheese? :hehe:

I was specifically referring to the 1947 EMD 'E-M' (while it bears a lot of resemblence to a E7, it is 21' longer and thus a different locomotive) hauled consist, so I wasn't correct in any real way.

I was aware that GM reused the 'train of tomorrow' title on the aerotrain, but I was banking on it not really being successful enough to justify modelling it *shrug*
