CMP Troubles.

Alright, so first off, I would like to say sorry for asking so many questions and if this has already been posted before, but CMP (TRS2006)does not let me download anything. It constanly freezes when I click the download button. I can have it sitting there for hours on end and it will still be the same, saying "Please wait, applying filter." There is also another problem when my download limit never resets back to 100.00MB. I can use it all up in a day and 2 months later it will still say "0.00MB left for Today." Any help will be appreciated. This is just so frustrating!

I'm sorry for double posting, but now, TRS2006 refuses to load. It just freezes at the pop up menu. I'm starting to feel that I'm the only one having these problems.

24 views and not a single reply. Sorry if I seem annoying, but I am just really frustrated with this and yet another problem pops up. When I tried re-installing, the .NET framework can't install for some reason. It says "the feature you are tring to use is on a network resource that is unavalible." I am very close to throwing away Trainz 2006 in the garbage.

Have you read and tried any of the possible solutions in the TRS2006 sub forum ??
Have you installed SP1 ?
Are you using Vista ?
Have you allowed CMP thru your firewall(s) ?
Have you read the Read-me file in the main menu of Trainz TRS2006 ?
Just some beginning thoughts !

I have viewed your post and, since I don't have a possible solution, normally I wouldn't have replied. I suspect that the others who have read the post have done the same.

Eight hours have passed since your first post. The folks on these forums are, like you, fellow users. No one I know of is paid to monitor the forums for the odd problem report. There is a vast storehouse of knowledge here. I'm sure someone will eventually post some things to try. In the mean time try to be patient.

BTW, you might try another reinstall after removing the program and running a registry cleaner. Faulty installs can leave stuff in the registry after uninstall.

Alright, so I installed SP1 and CMP and TRS2006 load up perfectly (didn't know there was one, so I'd like to thank you on that part) but now, rules that I downloaded after the installation of patch don't show up. I swear this is like prescription medicine. You fix one problem but it causes another.

Unfortunately, the rules not showing up is indicative of a bad SP1 install. Sorry, you'll have to do it again, following the instructions to the letter. I can hear you muttering now, but you missed something.
Norm

The part of the instructions that says don't start Trainz between installing the base program and installing SP1 is important. Do it that way or do it over. Your reinstall will need to start with a clean reinstall of the base program.

SP1 Installation Guide
With the release of Service Pack 1 for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 we have prepared this guide for applying SP1 to your Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 installation.

A complete list of issues addressed in SP1 is available on the TRS2006 Website at http://www.auran.com/TRS2006 >Support >Service Packs

DO NOT APPLY THIS SERVICE PACK TO TRAINZ, UTC or TRS2004. IF YOUR TRS2006 TRAINZ BUILD NUMBER IS ANYTHING OTHER THAN 2761 THIS PATCH WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU.

To identify your build number, double click on your Trainz desktop icon, and from the Launch Menu select Launch Trainz > Start. Once launch is complete, you will find your Trainz version and build number located at the bottom right hand side of the screen. Note down the build number and select the Quit button to return you to the desktop.

Download Service Pack 1 for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 Build 2761 from the Service Packs page of the TRS2006 Website at http://www.auran.com/TRS2006 >Support >Service Packs

Service Pack 1 is available to download right now and will be available on CD from the online store in the coming weeks for the cost of postage and handling. Pre-orders can be made at the Auran Shop now at the Auran Shop. All pre-orders will be charged to your credit card or PayPal account at the time you place your pre-order.

You will need to install Service Pack 1 on a fresh installation of TRS2006. A fresh installation means you have reinstalled TRS2006 and not launched it. You will need to backup any custom content including maps you have made or modified before uninstalling TRS2006.

To save individual items of custom content:

You will need to save all your custom content prior to re-installing TRS2006.
To do this, Open CMP and select the asset or assets you wish to save.

DISABLE YOUR ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL ANY TRAINZ PRODUCT OR SERVICE PACK

Do not run TRS2006 once you have re-installed it before installing Service Pack 1.

We also recommend setting the entire TRS2006 directory to write enabled before patching.

To do this right click on the TRS2006 folder and unselect ‘read only’ and apply to all subfolders and files.

If you received the patch on CD or have copied the downloaded patch to recordable media, such as a CD or DVD, DO NOT run the patch from there. Copy it to your hard disk drive, then launch the patch from your HDD!

Double click on the patch to launch the installation.

Follow the on screen prompts to install SP1.

Installation will appear to pause at approximately 12-14% for a substantial amount of time. Please be patient as this is to be expected. The complete installation can take up to 45 minutes or longer depending on your system specifications.

On completion of the installation you will see an Installation Complete notice.

Please launch TRS2006 now to ‘Configure Trainz’.

You do not need to re-register at Planet Auran after applying SP1.

Configure TRS2006 by double clicking on the TRS2006 icon on your desktop.

Select Options from the Launch Screen.

Select the Planet Auran tab (if it is not selected for you).

Enter your Login Details in the Username and Password fields. Your Username (nickname) and Password are those you selected for your Planet Auran profile.

Select the Advanced Options tab.

1. Change your Resource Cache Size: (in the Texturing box) to half your installed RAM. If your computer has 256mb, set it to 128. If you have 512mb or more, set it to 256.

2. In the Refresh Rate box, ensure Vertical Sync: and Frequency: set to Auto.

3. In the Miscellaneous box all 3 small boxes should be un-ticked.

Close the Configure Trainz window by clicking on OK at the bottom of the window.

From the TRS2006 Launch Screen, select Launch Trainz. This sets your new settings in Configure Trainz.

Once launch is completed, look for your Trainz version number and build number located at the bottom right hand side of the splash screen to confirm that the patch application was successful.

Selecting the Quit button will return you to the desktop.

I really appreciate your help guys. I'm really sorry if I came off as impatient and annoying, but I was just really frustrated at the time. So again, thanks for everything.

Does this mean your problem is now fixed? If yes, good on you and happy trainzing :hehe:

If not, there is always TRS04, which one can buy for a pittance now or find it in a bargain bin and it does not give you any CMP problems, because it does not have it

Cheers

Copy of my ealier post

I have been having similar problems:

1) I have been having problems with Installing stuff from DLS via CMP (2006) for a few days now.
Keep getting:

Error: Failed to commit changes to asset <kuid:******:****> due to file access error

Does anyone have an explanation please?

2) Now when I click on the Manage Content button I get no response at all.

Am getting increasingly frsutrated with this. Trying to download the new Isle of Wight route and can not get any response from the DLS or trying to access via CMP.

Did you try SP1 like I did?

I have tried (I think?) every way of gaining access to the DLS either using the CMP direct or accessing via the old DLS access screen; if you access this and then click on the Download - it automaticly fires up the CMP.

Just tried again to download the Isle of Wight route but managed only to load 1 or 2 items before I get the same error message again.
Oh! and BTW the e-mail notification, below does not seem to be working either.
Keith

My build version is 2.6 3092.

I am considering dumping 2006 and reverting back to 2004 has anyone tried this - any problems encountered?

Keith

HI all,

regarding the file saving - use explorer to view the c:\program files\Auran\TRS2006 folder and make sure that every file and folder inside is read/write access (it appears to default to "read only").

If you can't see the installation guide, can you access the 2006, DLS forum sections? If not then you have not registered with Auran - or your profile isn't right (helpdesk request for that).

If you haven't registered your username & password in CMP, then the CMP will connect to he DLS and not recognise you.

HTH,

Colin

I have been registered with Trainz for many years.
This problem with the DLS has occured out of the blue as far as my machine is concerned.

I have been having issues too with CMP using Trainz Classix on Win XP. I checked the CMP log file and it tells me that the reason that my machine is not connecting to the DLS is because I don't have a password set in my profile. However the password is there.

Have sent Help Desk a copy of the log. When I try to download an asset from the Download Station web site, CMP opens up and then I get a message saying I have no internet access. However this occours even without a firewall or antivirus software running.

I have been registered for a long time but have no idea why DLS is not working.

Hi,

I was speculating that there might have been some MS updates in the last few weeks/days etc that changed something.

I know my PC system changes regularly - usually an MS update - or virus checker update - most people (myself included) install these automatically.

sorry it didn't help - but I'm out of ideas - assuming you've tried al the obvious ones.

Colin
