CMP (not again) but DIFFERENT.

Basically I do NOT want to know about using CMP for downloading or anything to do with using it for connecting to the Download Station, or setting up filters for downloading content, etc.

Trainz 2004 content manager no problems.
Classics 1/2 no problems in driving routes.
Classics 1/2, CMP starting locking-up, on commiting content making Driver and Surveyor unusable as all integrated.
Administrator, Esc, etc.

Used Vista for going on for a year, nvidia 8600 GTS, 2G ram. dual core, also use Dial-up.

First question do you have to enter the connect details, user name etc "IF" not connecting to the Internet or DS (never ever).

Next if you have to set it up I think there was a don't connect on loading button somewhere, waiting now on classics 3 to be able to try CMP so going by memory. So generally any advice, hints on commiting mainly own content to own route with a few selected items from DS for which I only use FTP, so that CMP does not lock up as previous with 1/2.

Please don't post about connecting to DS, filtering, downloading, etc, just simply related to commiting mainly own content and a little content by others, in and out of Surveyor so that it does not lock up and make classics unusable.

Many Thanks

A thought... is it necessary to set CMP to connect to the internet, but that seems to make it unusable, for making/adding content for the many people who may wish to try out content making but perhaps do not use the Internet or perhaps are without an Internet connection for any number of reasons, etc?

Perhaps someone could confirm if conection IS DEFINITELY required for the Internet and DS, as so far not found any clarification on this point. Last time I set it up to connect but would prefer not to if I don't have to which might avoid it locking up!

I have TRS06 on one of my PCs which is NOT my internet connected PC (as I have several PCs in my work room). I set it up normally with username etc. placed in CMP. I can check my TRS04 created content in it, I can build in Surveyor, play in it and I can import and commit CDPs which I d/load via FTP with my other internet connected PC. I transfer the d/loaded stuff via flash drive (memory stick) to the other PC with TRS06 on it and can commit stuff without hassles.

In your case, why not d/load stuff via FTP and once so done, switch off your modem or internet connection or with your firewall (you possibly might have to reboot with the connection switched off). Then do what you want to do with your d/loaded content. I guess, since your internet connection is not on, CMP can not get on to the internet and hence can not lock up (which it does with your connection on). You should still be able to commit stuff, test, play and do other things with it without the annoying going on to the internet issues.

Mind you, CMP might tell you there is no internet connection available or even some other error messages as it tries to connect but since it can not do so, no locking up (my guess, as I NEVER EVER had these issues as I do not go on to the internet with CMP).

Vista might be another issue with TRS06 and CMP and since I do not use my dual boot PCs (Vista and XP Pro SP1) I do not use Vista for TRS04 nor for TRS04 where I create and test my content. You have to wait for a Vista user do tell you :)

I also found that XP Pro is still the best operating system for TRS04 and TRS06 with me.

Many thanks for that.
At least it start and will see if another Vista user without Internet arrives.

Will copy your post and refer to it when Classics 3 arrives.

Would have preferred to continue with XP but new computer and thought I might be better with Vista at the time.

I disabled User Account Control otherwise you are forever clicking mouse to OK things.
