CMP Locking Up

Having a problem with CMP locking up. Its locking up frequently. It just started doing this after several months of operation. I have gone completely through the entire program and Txt files Can't find the answer. It is not a memory problem. I have 6 GB of Ram. Anyone have a cure for this? I don't want to uninstall if at all possible. Help will be appreciated. Thx :)

Can you tell us at what point it "locks up" - sometimes I find the "update" window just stays and does not progress - I hit Escape and it moves on to load CMP.
This may not be what you are asking!!

I just got thru a post for just this problem see "CMP locks up solid" in the 2006 tech help section, I got no joy whatsoever from any of the replies, nothing seemed to fix it.

After researching this problem I find that this is considered normal. Its a glitch in the program that no one is addressing. How can a malfunction be considered normal? Auran has to correct or ignore this problem. Their choice. The malfunction is at code level. We have to live with it. What a way to run a railroad. :'(

amen to that, as youd read on my thread, Ive had it woprking perfectly in the past, but out of the maybe 6 times ive installed TRS2006 its had this damn annoying probvlem maybe 2 times?

what a way indeed!:'(

When it locks up, see what's going on in Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+Delete).
If it says CMP's 'Not Responding', under the Applications tab, end the Task and try launching CMP again.
If it's running, check the Processes window. Check under the Mem Usage column. If the numbers are increasing, I believe it means CMP is rebuilding its database and you should wait until it's done.

Highest memory is not always the case, its usually % CPU usage that causes problems. But in this case i dunno, because I dont have 2006!

well im going to keep using it as TRS itself works just fine, and when i can get it to finally update and let me use my computer so does CMP!

the lock up occurs when updating the database. and trying to do anything including the three fingered salute (CTRL ALT DLTE) is also nigh useless as the CPU is running maxed out.

a better solution would be to have someway to assign only a a portion of CPU usage to CMP so a user would have half a chance to shut it down when it cant update.

CMP locking up

I found the "Asset Viewer" in CMP to be a possible cause. I keep it closed now and the number of lockups has dropped a lot.
cheers,

mine has now stopped locking up, got no idea why, I still have to ctrl alt delete to restart it to get it to finish updating, but at least I can close it now instead of it locking itself up.... weird
