Cityrail 2007/2008

This is one of my favourite shots. An area where you have 3 or more tracks.

Here is a little mistake I made in the scenery design. Notice the pole for the pedestrian walk signal..... It is way too tall. You can see the push button panel on the pole about 15 feet above the guy in the white shirt.

Oooops.

Hey mate,

Must admit its good to see what updates you have made to your project.. just wondering how your tangara is going? i'm sure all your fans out there would love get their dirty paws on what appears to be the finest and most well made sydney suburban train, ever. You do seem to have a great talent at creating content for trainz. Or perhaps uploading some of your awesome models, like the STA bus above to the DLS?

In regards to your project... have you thought about doing sections at a time? like a V1 thats say the city loop and central, then a V2 that updates the original and adds a section on etc? Just that the entire project your creating seems quite overwhelming, and no doubt must be exciting, and daunting at the same time?

I just think that with your great talent you've shown to date if you made smaller sections/ lines and released them sooner you would get such a big following, if you dont already:) that other awesome creators would be begging to assist you make models/ buildings etc to create what will no doubt be the most realistic, life-like route to hit Trainz ever.

Thanks for the kind words there re the project. And yes it can be a bit daunting. But I always tackle big projects like this one area at a time. For example when I was started laying down the first of over 600 kilometres of rail track, I was wondering what I was getting myself into. But after many months I got to a stage where I got to lay the final piece of track in the rail network which would join the first laid piece. And fittingly that join was the rail track going over the Harbour Bridge between Wynyard and Milsons Point.

I may very well look at releasing the project a section at a time. I haven't really thought about that as yet but it could be a possibility. This would give people a chance of driving on a particular line they are interested in over other lines.

No promises there but it is a thought I am considering.

This poor dog is stuck somewhere out near Penrith. Like Lassie it too is trying to find it's way home and the quickest way to get home is by train.

Sadly it is still searching for the rail tracks so it can hop on a train to get home to Bondi Junction.

This picture shows a sample of the animals being created for the project and the first of the Cityrail 2010 trees.... a gum tree in this case.

I forgot to answer a question from p_dacey re the Tangaras. I am overcoming a few obstacles re it's construction . I am looking at releasing the Tangara to the DLS sometime in the next 8 weeks. It could be 3 weeks... it could be 8...... it all depends on how I go. But I will get the Tangara onto the DLS as soon as possible because I know there are many people waiting for it.

Their hasn't been any posts in this thread for a while, so is their any more updates Rjord1?

Sorry for not getting back to you Red Rattler.

I have been having hardware issues and a couple of other things going on which delayed work on the project.

But these are out of the way now and I have purchased a new laptop during the week for the project to continue development on.

The project is not dead in the water and is back.

I am transferring the project onto this new Vista machine and then working out where I am . Then work will begin on new models.

I am determined this project will be complete but the last 5 months hardware issues have been a problem for me and I was losing work. It was only this last week I could afford to do something about it. Aplogies for all those who have been waiting for updates but they are now back to daily updates as of yesterday.

Hi Roy,

Glad to see your back up & running again.
Looking forward to your much-missed progress.

I noticed a nasty comment on your blogsite by an
Italian mouse (A Noni Mouse).
Whoever did that, has pinched MY name! (I forgot my blogger password so had to post as my alias:
"A. Noni Mouse" esq.

Be assured that most meece are meek, & willing to wait-a-while, as I am.
I empathise with you, as the route I'm doing has been on the go for the best part of five years,
& will cover over 100 miles.

BTW, "Wait-a-While" is a location of our route. Can anyone guess the route?.
The 1st 'person' to do so, can have a crack at that nice fresh smelly bit of cheese
on that wooden contraption over there; with the big spring-thing. :hehe:

Thanks for the heads up....... I had a look for the comment but couldn't find it. Was it in the message boards or the face book side of the blog?

Hi Roy,

I actually can't find it!.
Basically it was someone knocking you for not releasing at least a beta version & saying that you would die before you'd finish it. I thought it was pretty rude actually. It's your route & you are very graciously allowing people to follow you on your 'journey'.
I thought it was on your blog site, but even that looks 'different' just now. Considering the time of my previous post (this afternoon); what's changed??

Could i ask for a tenie weanie favour:D
Could you post some shots of the Penrith area ? Wouldn't matter how detailed i just wanna see what its like in trainz:)

Hi, I have been following this with some interest,.. I know you have made and are making heaps of new objects for this project, but I was wondering, since it is a while off yet, if you wouldn't mind releasing some of them on the DLS for others who wish to make NSW themed routes (like me) for example, the NSW catenary would be invaluable to me.

I agree with Spooney, you have made a number of excellent models that would be of great use to those of us modelling NSW and other Australian themed routes :D . BTW the I've been following your project as well and I have to say Well Done from all the screens I've seen so far. I can't wait for when you finish it! :mop:

Cheers,

Matt

Hey, does anyone know if there are any CityRail routes or Sydney routes that are good and are available on the DS? Ive been waiting for a while now... and There hasn't been any updates so Im afraid that Roy might have temporaily left his work, or its delayed.

Any CityRail or SYdney line is fine. Please send me the link if you know of any. Thanks!...:)

Hello FBI_Bosch,

I am currently working on Cityrail - Shellharbour to Waterfall (DEM map) route. Though it is a ways off, I have track 75% laid and working on some textures etc atm to take a break from track laying. But I not sure on any good ones available at this time. I myself being a NSW lad (Now in Adelaide) like anything city rail as well.

My route I am designing, I am trying to have AI commuter trains and player controlled freight initally ( hints at David's Vset :p ) But I am not looking at any type of release for another few months as my time working on it has waned due to work commitments atm ( Shame having to make money to live) But I wil be putting updates on the forums as I move along, Though i have been abit slack with them in the last few weeks.

Cheers

Trent

G'day mate,

I was just wondering if your hard ware issue are gone yet? I ask as I have been waiting for a tangara for ages and yours seems to be coming very nicely. I love my tangaras! :D
I'm not try to rush you are intimidate you in any way, just asking how your projects are coming along!

^^

High Speed Trains in Sydney? :) - If only!

There are a few errors with how you've done your prototype. The DOWN (relief?) track for the Richmond branch passes over 3 tracks, the UP Main, UP Suburban, and DOWN Suburban. On the northern side of the overpass, there is the UP track from Richmond which joins the UP Main. On the southern side of the overpass, there is only the DOWN Main. The DOWN track for Richmond turns out from the DOWN Main just after Seven Hills to go on the overpass.

Hopefully that hasn't confused you. :)

I think i'm right with the Mains and Suburbans as beyond Blacktown, the Suburbans are on the inside, and Mains on the outside.

Na but then when I started I stuffed up a central and put the Western and North Shore on one brick station so it stuffed up that's why also should I star again?
