Cityrail 2007/2008

M/sharpe, I know where to get the diagrams of gradients, it's just at the time, I wanted to know if their is a section of the ESR (& anywhere else in the electric area only), that is as steep or even steeper than the grades under the Lane Cove River yet to be opened Epping - Chatswood Rail Line. I haven't been able to get the details of the grade/s especially under the Lane Cove River.

Hint: Relates to two of the worst "transporters reporters" of a certain "right-wing" paper.

Can anyone give any insight as to what has or happening with this project? The website / blog hasn't been updated sice the 13th of December from what i can tell.

Hi noah_73

Sorry about the lack of updates to the blog. November and December last year were not good months for the project and I have spent the last 8 weeks restoring parts of the project after some serious issues.

The good news is that the project is not dead..... far from it. And I am even more determined to get it finished.

However, I have had to rename the project to Cityrail 2008/2009 as there is no way I will complete it in the next 11 months. Sorry about that as I know a lot of people are waiting to try this out.

Daily updates on my blog resume as of today.

Once again, thanks for asking about the project and sorry for not getting back to you sooner noah.

Roy

Status of the project

Sorry about the lack of screenshots on the project. I have had a number of emails over the last few months asking what is happening and unfortunately computer problems on my end meant that very little was happening.

But I am almost back on my feet with about a week of work to add to the blog and I will be adding new screenshots here within the next few days.

Thanks to those who emailed me with support and offers of assistance.

Stay tuned for new screenshots tomorrow or the next day.

Roy

Sorry about the lack of posts here. Computer problems are a nightmare and a motherboard problem, battery problem and power adapter problem were not helpful. And I couldn't post old stuff here.... so I had to wait until myself and the computer were back in good condition again.

But the project is now back as strong as ever and gathering steam.

Here is a new screenshot of tests I am doing on a station building for the project. There are a few problems with the model... such as the roof will need to be changed to a green color using photoshop....... the grey tin roof didn't come across so well.

And the building seems to have lost a foot at the bottom.... making the seat a very hard seat to sit on.

Good to see your back and working again.

Hi Roy,

Yes a resounding "welcome back!"

Sorry to read of your woes.
I can agree totally with Craig's comment.
Presently my original "C:" drive & it's cloned copy are both now dead, leaving me with a situation looking somewhat grim.
They are presently being 'looked at', to see what's salvageable.
I have years of data/research etc, plus thousands of emails with attachments at great risk of being lost.
Some things are not always backed up, & in my case the 'backup' has failed as well!. :'(

But I'm hoping that between the two Hard Drives, most of the important
'otherwise not backed up' stuff can be extracted, even if partially corrupted/damaged etc.

Looking forward to future updates on your great project, which is an inspiration to all.

Isn't that so true.
Thanks for the welcome back.

Noel,

That is indeed terrible news.

I had that experience with Microsoft Train Simulator when I first started on this project. I made a small change to the project and a week later I noticed major corruption in 50% of the project. Entire sections of track had just disappeared. Of course by that time I had backed up over the good saves and I had to dump 2 years of work. :'(

Thats when I moved to Trainz.

So I don't loose research and important files, what I do is to save them into sub folders in the Program Files / Auran folder. That way when I want a complete back up of the project, if I backup the Auran folder and all it's subfolders..... everything is backed up.

I also save my work files and the folder "local" to DVD on a monthly basis for archiving. I also use Acronis True Image to save an image onto a dedicated external Maxtor hard drive. Sadly this new Maxtor 232 GIG hard drive has bad sectors so I am dumping it and staying away from Maxtor. They seem to have issues with their drives.

Hope you can salvage 100% of your data. Let us know how you go.

I only have the rest of my life to play it:hehe: .

If you are going to call it CityRail 2010, you need to include the North West Rail Line/metro, never to be built other lines. You won't have to do anything extra, as this re-re-re-reannouncement of the North West Rail Line/metro will never happen!!!

Haha . There planning on finishing the Maldon - Dombarton line to if your interested :) .

I will check out these lines to see what progress in planning is being made on them. Maybe just maybe I will add them if they are confirmed and signed for.

Another screenshot from the project.

Here the police have been given a tip that "Fingers" Murphy is inside the bank and they are waiting outside to arrest him.

The figures I am adding to the project are not created using 3D software such as Poser. It was going to take too long to create the 250 plus people I am creating for the project. Interesting enough, the figures are visible from most angles.... so they do seem to have a "3D" look to them. Not sure how I did that.

The police and "Sin Bin" were created yesterday and over night......... when I first built the vehicle I inadvertently made it 80 meters tall. It's wheels were bigger than the bank!

And yes........ the Train is one of those "new" ones I found on the DLS some time ago. Don't worry....... as soon as the Tangara and S-Set is done, I will be working on some other sets as well.
