Chesapeake and Ohio Yellowbellies

Hi,

I've been searching the download station and I'm suprised that there are very few Chesapeake and Ohio Engines, particularly their famous streamlined hudsons, aka yellowbellies. Could anybody please make a reskin of one?

Here is a picture of the last surviving yellowbelly, C&O 490, at the B&O railroad museum. Thanks, Colin

I have never heard of this engine before didn't know they had a streamline one looks cool:)

I believe the C&O shrouded four of their hudsons including this one in the fifties to pull the new Budd coaches on the George Washington

to tell you the truth, it is actually not the last hudson, there are still some around america

UPDATE: Though the yellowbellies did serve on the George, their original purpose was to supplement the steam turbine engines that would have served on the never run Chessie. When the Chessie plan was thrown away, the four hudsons were transferred to the George.

thanks for clearing that up, I live about 20 minutes from a ATSF hudson, and some other cool locomotives

Here are some pictures of 490. Recently she was moved inside, as were several other engines.

Notice that the absence of eccentric rods indicates that she uses poppet valves. Also, in the locomotive's original plans, the yellow areas were intended to be a yellow-orange color.

n my opinion, she is in need of a new paint job, as she is starting to look pretty shabby, as seen in this photo:

If you would like me to post more images, just let me know.

I'd like to see some more.

Sure thing. If you don't mind, I'll use the older photos of her when she was outside, as the lighting is better and there are more shots of her.

This particular photo from when she was is service was taken around 1951-52:

Obviously this is a model of her, but it provides a good image of the top of the locomotive and tender

I don't know how they got permission to take this picture, but this is a view of her cab:

Here is a picture of the cars she was planned to pull on the Chessie when she was first streamlined. They would not be hard to reskin, as they are basically the CPR Canadian cars already built in Trainz but with a yellow striping instead of red. I do not know why the picture is curvy like that

Let me know if this helps you. If you need any more, just ask.

Yeah they totally rebuilt them into hudsons. I think the old pacifics were built sometime in the 20s by Baldwin

There's actually quite a few C&O engines on there. Look up username "cincysouthernrwy". Browse through the pages of his stuff, he has some of about anything you need. The meshes are old and generic most of them, but Adam has done a fine job with the skins.

Cheers,
Woody

Wow, thanks Woody. I never knew they even had a full heavyweight George on the DLS. I'll have to get it.
