It needs to be able to run Trainz 12 with these specifications. A good price range would be no more than $110.

Circuit City put in a video card in my 300W Lite-On PS, HP desktop, and it ran well for years on end.

When the video card finally went out on me, I looked it up, and it said it needed a 550W power supply.

For your price range I think an EVGA GTX 550Ti with fpb would be a good choice. A good AMD processor is the Phenom II X4 965 @3.4Ghz. I run that along with Trainz 2010 and so far, it runs over 60fps.

I have the same card that you can get now for around $125 and see frame rates in the 60-80 FPS all the time.

but evga gtx 650 1 gb its a best mid range card and price is 99$ for new .gtx 460 or gtx 550 are older now

+1 For the GTX 650. I use an EVGA GTX 650 1GB Super Clocked and for the price (£90 + Assassins Creed III) I cannot complain. It does everything I need it to at 1920 x 1080. :)

And yet the Futuremark test says that the GTX 460 would do it a whole lot better?

As one said above. You will need a new power supply and an Athlon Phenom II X4 965 would be a good choice with an ATI HD 6770 1GB. Because ATI its friendly with AMD like nvidia with Intel. And a power supply of 700 or 900W. Mine old pc is an Athlon X2 Dual core processor 64 +3000 3,1Ghz with a very old Nvidia 8600GTS and runs well games at 1600x1050 (Crysis at medium with decent FPS). So join more money and upgrade your pc entirely. Its worth

I upgraded my system about 1.5months ago just to get better graphics from Trainz 12. I lost a harddrive but learnt that when uping to a 1gb graphics card you need a lot more power, I even loaded Win8 Pro and that is another story. My opinion was that the upgade did not deliver the graphics that I expected, but it is better than 128mb card.

What I stated is from personal experience. However, regardless of any performance gain the GTX 460 has the greater availability, newer features and significantly lower power consumption makes it a more ideal card in my opinion. I should have also recommended the Radeon HD 7770 as this price point as well.

The HD 6670 can run on a 300W PS. My MSI version uses only 40W under load as measured with a watt meter.
