Changing Vehicles

Has anyone had any success replacing vehicles in Trainz Mac? I have been trying to replace modern autos (in USA region) with 1930s era autos. Simply replacing the KUID numbers in config.txt file for the region doesn't appear to work. The 1930s autos never show. You can add them as static props, but I can't get them on the roads. Is there some trick I'm missing? Appreciate the help.

They will work if they're listed in Content Manager as Category - Track Objects. The only difference between Track Obects type cars and Category - Vehicle type cars is that the Track Object cars have this tag in their config.txt file:
trackside 0.01

If you see an old car that you want to use, clone it and edit its config.txt file to include this tag, then save and commit.

Bob,

Thanks for the suggestion. When I added the tag: trackside 0.01 to the config.txt file, the auto found its way to the tracks, which I suspected would happen. I think I should have been more clear. I'm referring to automobile (cars) not railroad cars. Sorry for the confusion.

Bob,

Went back and tried it again. I had placed the tag in the wrong place. It works! Thanks again for the help.

You can search the DLS for different "regions" of cars, some are under the "misc" heading. I know there's 1930's, 50's and 60's there.
