Changing the Default Switch Lever?

As I get deeper into my project I am finding that I have to change all my default switch levers to another switch machine. Is there some way to change the default lever for the substituted machine so that when I lay a turnout the machine appears instead of the lever?

Thanks

Billy

Locate the region asset for your route, it will be listed in the route dependencies (CM > locate route > rmb > Show Dependencies > Show in Main List). Open the region for edit (Ctrl+E) and change the kuid listed in the config as 'defaultjunction' to the lever of your choice. Don't forget to 'Comit' the altered region (Ctrl+M)...

Andy, he won't be able to commit the change to a built-in asset in TS12. He'll have to clone the region and make the change to the clone. Then edit the config.txt of his route to use the new cloned region.

Committing will throw up a warning dialogue about changing built-ins, and it is more than likely that the altered region once committed will itself show warnings (most likely no thumbnail and unsupported build number) but you can certainly do it....

Irritating isn't it that CM shows 'warnings' for third party assets, but exactly the same issues in built-ins are error and warning free. Go figure...

I tried the replace assest and it worked very good for me. Thanks. I didn't know about that feature, so thank you for the heads up.

Why not do that in surveyor in replace asset with.

Just be aware that this will replace all of them. There may be places where you need, for example, a manually operated lever (in a goods yard) so you would then have to replace those instances manually.

To my understanding is you drag the switch lever you want to replace in to one window and the one you want to replace it with in another window.
So it will only change those.(am i wrong?)

Correct. It will replace all occurrences of the switch lever in the box on the left of 'replace assets' with the one on the right. It will not replace any others.

My observation was in case anyone wished to replace switch motors/levers which had been placed automatically on every turnout as the route was created.

On my route I use R hand & L hand switch machines ... this means that if I selected to have R hand Switch Machine as my default, then I would be correct @ only 60% of the time, requiring the other 40% of the switch machines to be either rotated, or to be replaced by L hand Switch machines.

I lay switches without levers, and insert all mine by hand ... although deleting one by one, and replacing with your choice is what most people do.

Being a new user of the function, I have found that you can be specific with left or right...as long as the switch lever or machine have different names. you will, however, have to go and check for positioning. I have had to rotate some of the machines because of yard trackage: the machine appeared in middle of the track of the nearest diverging line.

You can also replace multiple types, as long as you drag the names into "to be replaced" window. it will replace all of the different assets with one replacement asset.

Hope this helps.

And thanks to all of you who have replied to my original thread.
