Change in elevation for "Riverwater texture"

Would like to know if there is a method to change the "River Texture" elevation when the river is following a terrain that is inclined. When installing "River texture" I have to step down sections by about 1 to 3 feet in order to have the river follow incline of the terrain.
Any suggestions on this subject!

Use a River spline is possibly the best solution there are several available from the DLS
