Can't Select Ground Texture

I want to replace a ground texture with another using the Asset Replace function. Typically you select the old and new textures using the Selection (H) tool and drag the selected texture to the Replace window.

My problem is that when I select a certain texture it is shown in the small window below the general selection list but not in that general list. It must be in that list to drag to the replace window. My guess is that it is not in the my system but I have no way of identifying it to get it from the DLS. Is there a way to ID a texture that displays but is not selectable?

The texture has to be in your system for you to be seing it in the route. Try using the grab tool on a slightly different area or if you are feeling particularly patient open Content Manager and right click on the route and select 'view dependancies'. You will get given a long list but what you are looking for will be there in the list. Does your route have layers? Make sure that you are working in the right one to be ble to 'grab' the texture...(sorry but I dont know much about layers beig a 2009 user :o )

Alternatively send a PM or e-mail to the route building with a screen shot of the area of the map that you are looking to replace and ask them for help in identifying the texture

Dick,

Did you select a texture, but type in a search name in the search part of the texture panel?

If you for example type in JJS to search for JJS11154 textures such as asphalt, all of the JJS11154 textures will show up on the panel. Now if you then pick a non-JJS11154 texture on your route, it will select, but not show up as a pickable texture.

I have done that before where a search term blocked recognition of an asset. But not this time. Darn thing just not in my system.

Solved: I looked at the dependencies and one looked familiar but it was disabled. Enabled and it appeared as selectable.

Thanks:D
