Can't delete

I find I can't delete track (though objects can go). As soon as I click on the delete button the whole display just freezes. Can anyone suggest a way round this?

Is this universal or just one particular area? Do you have rolling stock on the tracks? Sometimes faulty rolling stock will be invisible. If you tried to place a piece of rolling stock, and it did not appear, it may actually be there, unseen, preventing you from deleting track.

Do you get a sound when you try to delete the track, or does it just freeze? Does it unfreeze, or do you have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete yourself out of it?

It's anywhere on the track layout. I've deleted all rolling stock, but no joy.

No sounds; I have to close down Trainz and restart.

If there was a rolling stock on the track, locked layer or anything like that, there would definitely be a sound. Apart from that, I can't help you. Sorry...

Sounds like simplistic advice so sorry if it is but are you in the right tab in surveyor when you try to delete (ie its no use trying to delete track if you are in the track objects tab

don't know if you tried this
open mini map and look too see if there is an invisible conset on track
had the same problem myself and this was the problem

cheers,

Is it a built in map, or one of your own making? What is the KUID of the track?
It's a map of my own. I don't know how you find the KUID: the track is Auran Trk 01 1Trk. There is a junction which is clearly mis-aligned: I would normally click 'Move' to shift this but if I touch this button all freezes!
Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for your help, however nothing shows up on Minimap.

A grain of salt: The "track" may have become an object. Try deleting as if it is an object. Do this in the main map, not in a session.

Hi kihara.

I’m following this thread with interest and am stumped too!

Sorry to go over some of the same ground, but it’s remotely possible that something very basic is being missed here. (I’ve been there often enough!)

You have confirmed that you have selected the correct tab. I’ve always understood the “tab” to be the bit that pulls out the flyout window. Presumably the correct button (top left) has been selected, and the “x” delete button is being pressed – as per the three arrowed below.

If so, the usual culprit is a piece of rolling stock on the track, usually within two spline points. These can be unnoticed if the length of track is unusually long, or if the rolling stock is on another (perhaps parallel track) connected by points. If so, you should hear the the buzzer warning provided your sound is turned up.

I’m sure you’ve gone over this many times – if so advance apologies!

Cheers
Casper

Oddly I have the same problem with vegetation. On the route I am building there is ne bit and thankfully only s amall bit where a group of odd flat style tree images jump about on th edge of the track and I cannot find out what it is or how it got there. Nothing happens when you click on the group which dances about over a very small area in a life of it's own onto the track- again thankfully. Have given up trying to erase it.

where is the problem on the route, start, middle, end
i'm assuming it's your own creation
can you delete the baseboard without causing major hassels
it sounds drastic but it may be the only answer
before you try this save the route to cdp, that way you still got the faulty route

Another quick thought.

Have you tried loading your route from the main Surveyor menu, but selecting from the left side of the bar. If you choose any from under the right (Session) header you'll load up the route which will then place all of your chosen rolling stock - visible, invisible and presumably any “rogue” ones which might be causing your problem.

If you select from the left side of the bar under the Route header you should get complete freedom to delete any track, knowing that nothing is on the line anywhere.

I that doesn’t work, I guess you’re into some of the more drastic ideas being proposed.

Hope you get it sorted!

Many thanks to you and everyone else who's offered suggestions.
I tried working on just the left (Route) side of thr bar as you suggested. The area of interest is in the middle of a scrum of junctions, and when I clicked 'Move' on a spline point the whole lot screwed up into a ball of what appeared to be magnetic spagetti! The great thing was that it didn't freeze, so bit by bit I managed to disentangle it!
Thanks again.

Kihara.
