Hi. I have the non steam version of TS10. I wan't to install the blue comet addon I purchased from gamersgate. I've registered my serial on Auran last year and I had the blue comet installed. I decided to get a new computer and when I tried to reinstall blue comet, gamersgate simply gave me a steam key which i used but I got nothing. So now I can't use the blue comet addon! Please help!

Justin,

Go to Simulator Central and you should have your serial number/CD-key there. If not it's located on your Planet Auran account under Serial numbers. You'll see it listed there and then highlight, copy, then paste it in where it's required.

You are patched up to date? Blue Comet Requires Trainz Simulator 2010 SP3 or above to be installed.
Run the Blue Comet installer as administrator - right click run as administrator.

It might work if you run the installer as administrator though as this is a fairly common issue with Win7 and Win8.
If that fails still got the old PC? then just copy the Trainz install from that to the new PC.

The problem is, I don't even have the installer! Gamersgate will not give me it! It only throws me a serial number for steam!!

Ouch! looks like they are only supplying the steam version now then. Always a good idea with digital downloads to save the installer to CD or DVD for the time when it's no longer available.

Have you got the old PC with it installed?

That's a pity, I'm just wondering what would happen if you got it from Steam? I'm thinking it might just install to a Steam Folder and create the correct folders even if there isn't actually a steam version of Trainz? If it does you could probably then put it in the right place and add the serial as normal.

From memory, it installs a .ja file inside it's own folder under <steam install folder>/steamapps/common. This needs to be copied to the Builtin folder inside your Trainz install folder which will then allow you to add the serial number.

However, if it contains a Packages folder or similar, then this can only be used in TS12 with Service Pack 1.

One suggestion for you - don't post serial numbers on the forums. Edit your post to remove it.

Install your Steam version of the addon using the standard Steam install process, then follow my above advice.

Shane,

I noticed that I still have moderator rights and removed his serial number.

I agree. There is no reason why he can't download it from Steam.
