Cannot connect with DLS via CMP (again)

I see that we are back to the old "Unable to contact Planet Auran, please check your internet connection and firewall settings" glitch with CMP.

Except it is not really a glitch (with me) in that the 'edit password' fix - doesn't.

It's been a month or so of seamless, trouble-free connection, so I guess I should be thankful for small mercies.

No point contacting help desk - they just tell me to do things to 'fix' it my end, rather than fix it thier end.

Very frustrating.

Have you tried clicking on the Planet Auran tab on your launchpad and entering your username and password at the top? And you may have to retype your username and password in Content Manager as well.

All i can say is "welcome to the club" with this problem. Has it been since beginning of july u been having this problem?. do this do that and still doesnt work. to reinstall ts12 my user data is over 30gig and that would take ages to move all because of a login issue caused by there server and i bet that everything else is working except cm to login, mine waits then comes on what u have written and cm is offline, WONDERFUL.

I am having the same problems - not that it will make you any happier. I have been logging in with CMP seamelessly for about a year, now suddenly
it gives me all this stuff about my username etc. being incorrect etc. I have tried all the fixes suggested on the forums, but still no permanent success.
I say permanent because I did connect ONCE. Next time I tried I got the "no can do red line". I also noticed while i was on-line that it said I had gone over my 100mb daily limit already - DUH, I have an FCT which expires in November.
Sometimes I just think it is too much effort.
Auran/N3V need to look at their end of the link. There is a problem when so many people suddenly cannot connect via CMP.

Since my earlier post, I have completely deleted my current password in ALL locations and put in a new one. Guess what? Connected CMP first try.
Later attempts at login will see if this sticks, or if the problem still exists.

Thanks CRO for the advice u wrote, I tried it after changing my password i have had for years and YES it worked, so today after replacing the password yesterday guess what it didnt work again with the message unable to connect to the SERVER, so another new password entered in profile and wow that works again. SO IS IT AURANS SERVER, DO i have to change my password each time i use content manager. By the way i reinstalled ts12 again for the 2nd time.

I received the following advice from Zec as a result of a help ticket. See if this works for you.

As the 'Buy Ticket' page is part of the website (and is accessed through your internet browser), it will log in the same as any other page on our auran.com website. If it is automatically logging in, then this indicates that you have recently logged into the auran.com website, and set it to remember that you are logged in.The login for Content Manager's Download Helper uses a separate port/connection (it connects directly to our FTP server), and as such if this connection is being blocked, it may not be able to log in. However, if you are able to view websites in general, then the 'buy ticket' page should be accessible. Please ensure that Trainz and Content Manager have been given full internet access through your firewall and anti-virus. You can ensure this by adding Trainz.exe, ContentManager.exe, TADDaemon.exe, and TrainzUtil.exe as exceptions in your firewall and anti-virus programs. If you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7, then please also try the following.Go into Window Explorer (or My Computer), and navigate to the Trainz folder, and right click on the 'Trainz.exe' file, and click on 'properties', and then click on the tab called 'Compatibility'. Now set the Privilege Level to "Run this program as an administrator", then click on 'apply', then on 'Ok'. Next, open the folder called 'Bin', and locate the files called 'ContentManager.exe', 'TADDaemon.exe', and 'TrainzUtil.exe' and set the Privilege Level to "Run this program as an administrator" for these files as well.unquote

I was getting all this nonsense suddenly and have followed all the advice above. In the end I noticed that in CM - settings - Internet tab - I had "defaulted" to "No proxy server" (again). Once I had ticked "Use Internet explorer settings" and saved -- the problem was fixed.

Hope this might help.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I may have some new information on the problem on getting the error

Upload failed - You are not logged in

in CM (I'm using TS12) when you clearly are.

It seems the upload server/bot checks that you have logged into Trainz/CM (within the last hour or less perhaps).

So before you upload in CM (after you got your errors, thumbnail, description and license sorted out), log out of Trainz, do the usual wait for TrainzUtil and TADDaemon to close down, restart Trainz CM, wait again for the server to log you in fully and then upload straight away. (You might be able to get away with forcing a log-in check by downloading something in CM, but I didn't think to try that).

The other thing that first-time uploaders like me might want to know is that you need to un-tick (uncheck) the boxes about uploading dependencies (unless they are all yours, which is unlikely) as you get errors that it (rather obviously!) can't upload assets that are built-in or on the DLS (from other authors). (It's just simple software, of course! You didn't really expect computer to be clever, did you?).

'Hope this help other first time uploaders,

Peter.
