Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

Djoetje: King of the Deer

Hey Roy:

A couple more images of the Deer herd, led by our favorite Deer, Djoetje. We can see the herd watching the freight train go by from the hillside.

trainz2013050219522356.jpg

And if I am not mistaken is that Djoetje front and center with his herd? :D

Ning and Roy, it looks like he made it to the CPR mountain subdivision before you both did. Anything is possible in Roy's world.

The freight train continues eastward.

trainz2013050219552336.jpg

The "Eagle eye's" view is magnificent of the train, river, mountains.

On the home front early Summer is finally here. We got up to 27 C today. Yahoo.

Cheers,

Derek

Derekc,

I just talk to Ning and Djoetje on the phone and tell them what super great post you put there to honor Djoetje.
Makes me feel so good and them too. Beautiful shots and the deer herds do well here in our little world.
Later I will put a few picts on my Laggan sub test on 57898 after cleaning up the missing spline mess and resurface the rivers and creeks with real splines.

many thanks Derekc and all Roy's trainz users!

Derekc we have 27C at night when lucky....... not fair the seasons right?

The Spiral Tunnels exist!!

Wow. The Trainz Forum is running at a snails pace.

Roy, I want to congratulate you on your latest images. Especially the first two. The first image is breathtaking of the meandering river. Are you a geologist?

And the second image shows one of the Spiral Tunnels between Field, BC and Kicking Horse Pass at the BC, Alberta border (and the Continental Divide as well.) I notice that you have created a consist long enough to be seen at both ends. Great work!

64Warhorse: Great to see you back posting images again.

Cheers,

Derek

Yes the lower on the left was that shot and here the upper with a 100 loaded coal consist.....

Cabins and Bridges

Hi Roy:

You are certainly capturing the "essence" of Lake Louise to the Continental Divide. There are broad open areas along the Bow River with some sparsely treed areas. The Elk love those open areas for feeding.

Meanwhile back on the CPR subdivision, the CPR freight is passing a small cabin. I don't know who made these tank cars but they are quite "artsy."

The freight train continues eastward.

The train is passing through the first bridge east of Revelstoke.

Here we can see the caboose just entering the bridge. By the way, a caboose was referred to as a "van" in CPR parlance. Did anyone know that? :D

Good morning Derek,

Thanks for the nice comment.
Like your picts Revelstoke and still love the little details of the route but man looking back I each time see how much time spent and still see room for a lot of improvement.... I see this was after all my first one.

I got little bit stuck on the cont divide at the Lake Louise resort, i know or better think I know I have seen buildings close enough to combine and make a huge resort like that but still not found them.
Thought it was Dmdrake who had something close but if not find today i move on and later update that detail. Maybe you or someone else knows a building type multiple story that color point me at it ok?

The road works making 3 lanes highway is much more work than one thinks of but worth the effort, But the spline I use for a 3 lane with one no pass looks good but jumps back one direction I not want and cars ride everywhere not where I want or they should that carz system a boy put in there down under is quiet silly and spoiling the entire scenery over and over again.

Have a nice day and stay out of trouble.

River and cliffs

Hi Roy:

Well Roy's Trainz group obviously finds your CPR mountain subdivision route amazing, and from what we see of the Laggan subdivision it is "amazinger."

So if my postings of the mountain subdivision help you do a better job on the Laggan then I'll keep posting. If you would rather I stop just let me know.

So on with the "show."

The freight train is heading east along the Illecillewaet River.

trainz2013050817480042.jpg

The train is "surging" along the tracks. Pofigs trees are still amazing when you see them up close like the one on the right. Too bad he is not making more (though we all know he has good reasons).

trainz2013050817483464.jpg

You can see the mountains in the "long distance" 5 km away.

trainz2013050817485464.jpg

Spectacular cliffs occur along the river.

Good morning Derek,

well that sounds encouraging if you think the Laggan looks at least same or little bit better?
You and Warhorse and other great Trainzer friends very well capture the CPR Mountain sub atmosphere, great pictures each time.
Now would it be nice to have a feature to the I-portal object to allow live in and out portalling on 2 windows?
I just talked to Ning and Djoetje when waking up and Djoetje talks more than Ning which is unusual for a deer to beat a woman.

You all have a nice weekend.

Roy

Hi Roy: I hope you are in good health..And I hope Ning and the Deer are doing fine..You know Roy I sure enjoy all of your Pics..You have a special Talent That people like me envy..I hope you will continue, just Great..

Good morning Bob,

thank you for the encouragement and i write you from my location still in exile more than 3 month already and no end in sight.....:'(
At this moment I am let's call it stable without heavy medications but up and down not getting rite of the allergy.
Do not envy me trust me. My talent is getting myself in trouble and to far from my home and Djoetje. Ning is now on the night coach traveling to me 1 more hour she should arrive and stay here with me for one week and than 2 weeks back to home and make Djoetje the deer happy. He talks to me every day on the phone Ning took some video i will put them on my youtube today absolute heartwarming more than human. ( i know he misses me as much as I miss him).
My progress on the route is much slower than anticipated but as long as I can work i am more than happy.

Have a great day,

Roy

Oh... well, then never mind, I will wait. :o

oops Paul do not feel bad in CPR there are many places people not visit yet off track and most beautiful scenery ask Derek he does a lot of hike trails...;)

I try to go as fast as my body let me create the new section but the devil or the devine is in the detail and knowing me I cannot just skip and run to the finish you understand.
This section you will love creeping up and down the spirals and further on.

on a rainy morning N of Lake Louise!
