Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

Screenshots but almost "REAL"

The Canadian continues to head eastbound along Columbia Reach. It's Winter so snow is abundant.

trainz2012122616214599.jpg

We pass a group "Winter camping" along the Reach. I sure hope that the Teepee is warm. ;)

trainz2013010816551257.jpg

The Canadian goes into another tunnel.

trainz2012122817082013.jpg

My goodness there was that pesky N3V snow again! Maybe it's the high winds driving the snow into the tunnels?? :hehe:

Then again, anything is possible in Roy's World. He's the Wizard. :mop:

Thanks Jan for the nice compliment.
Derek the campers still are in summer cloth so we need seasonal people too not only houses.
Great shots on both threads thanks all!

The Canadian continues eastbound getting closer to Donald.

The passengers marvel at this beautiful stream flowing into the Columbia River as they cross the bridge.

trainz2013010217490240.jpg

These stainless steel cars still look magnificent amongst the mountains of British Columbia. Iconic for sure.....:Y:

Hi Roy: I am still amazed at route..It is so realistic..I just Drool over your work..I hope you and Ning, the Deer are doing well..Oh, I showed Peggy a Pic of your Deer she thought is was cute..

hi Peggy and Bob,
thanks for the kind reply.
yes we are doing well now after 3 days of medication and 500 miles drive to the "nearest" dermatologist in town (country haha).
Living in paradise has its rewards and practical things but it is still far better than the old western world and as such we not complain at all on so called privileges of everything nearby, taken care of if so and than at what price.
Living in the tropics needs attention when getting a rash or bite as you never know what and who bites and so yes i am quiet happy medication is working.
the route is doing well and many users seem to enjoy it and when ready maybe today I continue my work finsishing the Laggan.
Djoetje the deer or Ning calls him King George is home alone again, he is though used to it once a month for a week or so and than Ning's auntiespoils him with a monring wake up coockie and good veggies and he owns the house and shows that in a funny way.Ning called thius morning and Auntie forgot the cookie and Djoetje boxed her with the antlers ppointing and pushing her to the kitchen where the cookie jar is, smart little boy and never ever mean even polite when not getting things he walks away.
Hope you guys do well to and have a great start of the week.
Maybe today later i will post some more picts when back in the hotel.

Hi Ning and Roy:

Roy, Great to hear that you are back on the road to good health. :Y: And Ning, those are really great screenies from Viktor Lake.

The Canadian is almost at Donald. It is passing one more impressive cliff. I know that many of you might prefer "warmer" summer photos but it is WINTER in the "Great White North."

trainz2013010817520854.jpg

The Canadian is crossing the last bridge over the Columbia River before Donald in British Columbia.

trainz2013011017111410.jpg

Just over the bridge we pass by a historical grave site just outside Donald.

trainz2013010917445749.jpg

A closeup shows the many graves.

Stay warm in Thailand, we are just a bit jealous at this time of year. :udrool:

Donald, British Columbia

The Canadian is finally arriving at Donald, British Columbia.

trainz2013011217084615.jpg

In its heyday, Donald was a divisional point on the CPR. But, in 1897, when the CPR abandoned Donald in favor of Revelstoke, Donald disappeared into obscurity and is now a small saw milling community. There is a westbound freight train waiting for the Canadian to clear the tracks.

The remaining lumber industry is still active.

Now it's off to Golden, Britsh Columbia. ;)

what a pleasant surpirse

Awesome screenshots. I am in Bangkok till Feb 01. Unique culture here.

This is the surprise of 2013, Brittany in the land of the Thai Smileys! Thanks Brittany for the nice comment and to visit my thread.
What a surprise to see you nearby, well 700km from here in the Phu Pan mountains NE close to the Mekong river is where we live.
If you had posted last week we could have met as we where for one week (monthly brake) in the BKK (Bangkok area).
Lovely busy city nice to visit but not longer than a few days back to mother nature, freedom, good air and paradise the real Thailand here in the NE.
Is this the first time you visit Thailand? lots of thing to see and lots of food to try but careful on the street to eat food same like in Mexico sometimes the food can be contaminated not many times but once is enough I bet.
Let me know if you trvel around the country I guide you to the most beautiful places here near the Mekong river and mountains in the back of our house, our valley here has the best rice of Thailand world famous. We are surrounded by mountains and only ricefields so not like a busy town.
Enought for now and wish you a super holiday and take care if we not hear further.

Ning, Roy and Djoetje:wave:

I am here for medical procedure which has been completed and long road of healing, but leave out the details.
Thankfully at this point minimal complications

I am not able to travel to other parts of Thialand due medical checkups.
Not to hijack your thread, but I find Bangkok how do I say this politely, very unique and culturally different.

Sorry, the past months have been busy and when I was here, said hey let Roy know.
I am at the Atrium Boutique Hotel and what sucks is far away from all the great areas.

Be here till Feb 01 but understand 760km is way to far to drive.
Got to say loving the 90 degree temps versus snow and single digits in farheniet.
12hr time change and 30hr/10,000mile flght is still having effect.

The Canadian reaches Golden, British Columbia

The Canadian is crossing one of the last creeks before Golden.

trainz2013011717310595.jpg

A local industry appears beside a river.

trainz2013011217161353.jpg

This belongs to the Canadian Pacific Railway of course.

trainz2013011217181904.jpg

The Dome car passes this CP rail location as Seagulls fly overhead.
