Meeting a grain hauler at Albert Canyon:

By the time we get a few miles further east, near Downie, the snow has slowed down somewhat, giving us a better view of the tanker train we meet there:

Quite a peaceful scene, except for the rumbling of all those big diesels ...

Arriving at Columbia Reach

The Canadian crosses to the east side of the Gold River. Columbia Reach of Kinbasket Lake is just ahead. Once again Roy has done his homework. Compare the bridge in Roy's route to the image from Google maps that follows. Talk about "attention to detail."

And in the real world.........

The Canadian is passing some spectacular cliffs partly covered in snow.

Finally Columbia Reach, truly a picturesque place on this journey eastward. Kinbasket Lake was created as a reservoir after the creation of Mica Dam to generate hydro electricity in 1973. Much more information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mica_Dam

And meeting a grain train right at the Illecillewaet MoW depot:

This container train gave me a bit of trouble, as it spawned inside the signal protecting a double-to-single track merge while my train was heading the other way on the single track section. I had to stop it in place while my train cleared onto the other side of the double track, then send it on its way ...

It's snowing inside the McDonald Tunnel --- who knew? :hehe:

Great shot warhorse and Derek!
N3V and Auran has been the masters of rain and snow in tunnels for more than 8 years now, but I almost get used to it although it looks so stupid and unreal, what can I say:eek:

Ok another shot cold and freezing
