Hello Roy and Ning

Are there any areas where you have modelled diseased or dying trees? I remember reading somewhere that acid rain, climate change or maybe a tree disease had affected some areas of forest in Canada. If so, a few pics of how you did that would make interesting screenies.

Oh and I wish you 'chok dee' for the big release (although I don't think you'll need 'good luck', your skill/patience will be enough).

Might you be thinking of the Spruce Budworm or The Mountain Pine Beetle? Check google images.
cheers,
--michael. <aka froobie>

Could be those. There are also various fungal diseases that are spread on the wheels of logging- and excavation vehicles. We have a problem like that in the ancient Jarrah forests of Western Australia. I was just thinking a few dead trees might make a visually interesting feature because of the contrast with all the live forest. I didn't see such an area on the layout when I visited Roy recently, but it's a huge map and we ran out of time.

kop khun krap lung Deane yes we did

Swadee Lung Deane,

Yes we did a few areas with dead trees but also more of a burned area not to big as it looks so ugly and sad that we just put more dead trees only amoung healthy ones.
Will see where the picts are and post them for u this week ok? Off now to Sakon Nakon to immigration get my 3 month stamp to proof I am not a criminal just an ex ceo from the Dutch mafia and that seems to make friends here:hehe:.

Yes Froobie the beetles are the bad ones and shale oil i guess where they dump and kill the soil....... sad enough

Hi Everyone:

I have been one of the SSG's (Silent Support Group) of this thread for some time. As Roy replied to Deane it is definitely the Mountain Pine Beetle that has done significant damage to Pine forests in many areas of British Columbia. They are native to BC but as the climate is warming with hot dry summers and warmer winters and large forests of Lodge pole pine, this has become an epidemic. I have read that it might be the largest forest insect blight ever seen in North America.

My wife and I took the Rocky Mountaineer train trip along the very route that Roy is doing from Vancouver to Banff this past August which is an amazing luxury train trip in the fabulous scenery of the mountains of Western Canada. That is why it is so remarkable to see how Roy is capturing the "spirit" of that trip. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to move from the virtual to the real rail trip and consider taking the Goldleaf package on the Rocky Mountaineer. We can't recommend it enough. We did see occasional evidence of damage on the mountain sides from the beetle!

In my humble opinion (IMHO) Roy is one of the Trainz "Rock Stars" along with Pofig for trees and GNdome55 for his Arizona route and Dave Snow for buildings. All of you make the Trainz experience a joy

Keep up the great work and I look forward to more great images on this thread.

Derek

wow Cabuse that must be a strong iron horse to tackle the steep grades

Morning Cabuse,
If i can trust my own rumors next week we start the countdown:hehe: do you have picts from the Empress or is it not ready yet?
A little while ago I had email conversation with Alexander Low the brother of Stephen Low the gang who made the Rockie Mountain Express he was very kind and amazed about the detail I had in my route and the similarity and timing of this project with them. If he had known he said he would for sure have worked with me is that a compliment or not?:udrool:
So i looked for that steam engine but nothing on CA steam stuff yet on trainz right?

You sir have a great day and thanks again for the warm support.

Ning, Roy n Djoetje:wave:

Well you must be the speaker of the (house) SSG group

Speechless and honored really,

what else can we say the three of us, yes even our deer get excited with these kind of extremely support posts.
In my dreams I could wish for people to react of acquiring the routes on our website and run it but not even launched yet just on the picts we put out there Hat of Sir Derek!!:mop:
Most, most appreciated and as we get over and over excited seeing it every day means IT IS even better than the picts that is what we feel and try to share via screenies.....

Derek what amazes Roy most is that people who live there or traveled with the Rocky Mountaineer (first on our wish list to see in life what we make for the first time!!!!) must be the most critical ones to compare impressions and ONLY a BIG thanks to POFIG to make this possible... yes it could also been done with other trees if pofig's would not been available..... so Roy IS the real Trainz Illusionist right??:p

I cannot imagine that a prominent trainzer on this forum when talking in a thread discussing in cab view dare to say like who cares about scenery when driving in the cab I am driving the engine and ONLY want to see nearby.......well he probably never has been touched by the real world of mother nature which comes first and than mankind who ....sssshhhhht no i not gonna spoil the good mood and for us here in NE Thailand scenery is primary anywhere in cab outside anywhere that is the real world. Oops here are no trains just one cranky one From Khon Kaen (2 hrs from here) straight to Bangkok single line almost funny to look at.

Ok enough said and get the picts silo open for todays quota

warmest regards all of you guys!

Outstanding shots Roy - love 'em :)

hey Andy thank you for taking your time and nice comment. honest the website is more of an obstacle course that makes you cry once n a while because so many instances/cultures/languages/interest groups/ignorance/dumber than dumm.
This is to show my complete frustration just to get out of a catch 22 where everybody seem to wait for the other one before I can apply for the next official thing. Lucky Ning n Djoetje support me so well and your visit as the official and only trainz nutty professor honors me a lot really.
Hope you're doing well and see you around have a great week.

Roy;)
