Canadian Rocky Mountains 2011

@RRfoose

thanks for the very nice comment, so my best guess will be that Scratchy will be ok too.
You know after a while you tend to think that tunnel vision slowly takes over your mind when working for a long time on a thing like this but heas long as it it only the thought it' still ok right?:p

have a good one

Roy;)

I wouldn't just say you're on the right path Roy, you're on THE path! Plus the fact that those high and wide views can only be had in TS12 says a lot for the newest version on Trainz. Carry on, sir!

t
Did this meet your expectations or did I fail the test?

Thats wicked mate, couldn't look better! Have you seen the CP wellcars that RRmods have done? I reckon they'd go really nicely with your route, the chinese ones are just as good, just another option :)

@scratchy

thanks:cool:

dl now milos his stuff.
Did last week dl spinecars from jointedrail but has a missing kuid 334896:120005 but not in a hurry now for rolling stock and loco's. Enough work on finishing the route in its first phaze.

regards

roy;)

Last weekends work: Revelstoke Dam

Slowly but steady the Revelstoke area get's a face and a nice one if you agree with me!
While modelling the city and its outer boundaries I extend the activities of Trainz much further away from track only stuff and it pays of in rewarding and stunning views and things to do later with sessions. Enough said I disclose to much I know.

here is the first picture and if people like it and want to see more i will put more for sure but not just trash it out there because I ( we Ning and I) like the results.

interaction in the thread makes it more lively and not a one way road and gives ideas and thoughts for next things to do.

thanks guys for considering what i try to explain with my words:eek:

Yes I agree Tume's pylons and cables have trouble in TS12 I have to ask him for help to upgrade but when work they are a great asset to fill the landscape you agree? It took me almost 3/4day to place the pylons and hang the cables all the way to revelstoke from the dam:cool: but if he can correct the size of cables and better display it's a gem for powerlines!

Tume if you read this let us know if you can help on this one.
have great week

Roy n Ning;)

Morning Toren

Well that is a different question historically.
As it started on TRS2006(04) and grow slowly during the years it also adapted to the latest technology and techniques which answers the question.

Technically it could work to a great extent, practically I would not even think of it trying even if worked as spending saved money or side job would allow you to acquire TS12 or later and achieve more than going back to the Pharao's so to speak.

Recommendation without ny doubt try not adapt a route that was carefully created/adapted to the latest version and taking full advantage (NO anything Mode only Native) where possible.
Hope this answer your thoughts.

regards,

Roy

Some more picture for Tume and N3V with questions

I show some more pictures of Revelstoke Dam which barely hangs on to the route map as it sits really on the edge of the Trainz map world:eek:

I ask N3V and users if there is a trick not known to me at this moment to solve the trainz water tiles problem in skew corners like here with the dam but on many other occasions.

i try to cover up with anything that might fit and take away the attention but here my hat trick is empty:

Tume and N3V as you can see overland tension cables are a problem here and i know Tume is gonna look into this issue to upgrade his beautiful pylons/cables to work in TS12, thanks for that.

Also I try to rotate the angle for the white water fast but know not all angles are allowed so I have to do it the hard way and have gaps at certain viewpoints. ouch....

So as you can see the end of the (trainz) world is not necessarily a dead corner if you're a little but creative and lucky google earth made the dam fit just on my map lol.

thanks for any hints to improve.

Haha Trainzpro nice wording

Wow! Now that's looking pretty "dam" good! *rimshot* :p

-trainzpro

Very nice how you use the wording in this post...thanks and yes the dam came out much better than anticipated in the beginning.

but as always when you start something where to start with objects available and on the go get more and more creative and use things that create the illusion needed.:hehe:

thanks mate,

Roy:)

Sorry to be blatantly unable to assist with your problem, but WOW that is quite a nice sight. You are a master of this art. Good luck with the rest of the route and with your content issues!

Tyard you and many others support my many times!!

thanks for the nice comment friend!
The issues are no big issues just cosmetic details of minor importance but for me as I push myself to just not perfection it needs to be addressed some time in the future but even without solving it it still looks more than pleasing.

Thanks again!!!

Roy n Ning;)

Stunning work, again, Roy! I know what you mean about the water tiling issue - I've had to just make sure all of my dams go straight across to avoid this...really tough with a curving one. But considering the issue, we can't hold it against you. Keep the pics coming!

Thanks. I'm here all week! :hehe: But seriously, that looks really nice. I especially love the spray mist effect off the water falling over the spillway. BTW, is that a custom dam that you modeled or did you download it? If so, where could I find it?

Trainzpro:
the main structure curved is Industrial Dam hydro from Auran
the side structures i use from Vulcan his Dam library check his website for many exciting products for dl!

Vulcan thanks for the great absolutely great repertoire of objects you share with us over all those years!!!!!

Hallo Joosten,

you did a great job creating the Revelstoke Dam!!
As I wrote you, I have been there during my Canada Trip back in summer 2002. In my point of view you came close to the real thing considering you are using content which has not especially been made fort his project. Still I had no time to dig my old photos out, but I had a look into the internet and found something over there.
Looking at the real visitor centre, I agree with Euphod – you probably should use his building, but its your choice of course. Eventually you did a great job doing this dam and your screens witnesses large your creativity to get such things done without dedicated content.

:)

Your screens looking great! Looking at it pushes me to get the Wanapum Dam done which I have to simulate for my Othello - Kittitas route. I just created a view parts for it in gmax years ago but still I need some more buildings and structures to get closer to the real thing.

Looking across the dam from northwest to sougheast. The overflow is in the foreground besides a large electrical substation. Behind the overflow, the land drops deep into the valley. Down the valley and in fron of the "main dam" you can see the power house with the visitor car park ontop. Below the carpark is a large room where the four hydraulic turbins are situated.

From left to right: Substation, overflow (which creates a big waterfall if water runs through it) and "main dam" with the power house in front of it. The powerhouse only contains four turbins yet, but the possibility to add two more turbines has been considered.

Your’s TUME

Euphod you're the man n ing says!!

Ning is too very pleased with you make for us a special item for the visitors centre.

i fully agree the tall building not fit at all but placed it there not to forget to look or stumble better into a more appropriate. This is my way of memorizing things besides using push pins from Martinvk:hehe: :hehe:

You let us know when you are able to upload it? many thanks again my friend.

By the way the airport area is done too with some little surprise area's. You know me I very fast get creative when I see opportunities to make a cosy corner even if not on google earth.

have a great week my friend

Ning n Roy:cool:

Tume what can i say other than thank you

Wow Tume you spoil us with the nice comment but most of all with all the info on the dam.
This landmark is not even near the track but still has a function in my route/session later on.
Very good info you gave me but I agree I not have to change the dam as i followed the rule use what is available on the DLS and get as close as your imagination allows you that works many times and the more you do it the more skill you get if lucky and stubborn and not give up.
My fingers itch though to change little details but Ning said it's enough! :( :( and move on more than enough work still to do and finish this route this year.:hehe:

Everybody out there who supported us thanks again feels really good our work is appreciated.
