Can I "Import" my TC3 steam engines into TS12? and how.

Hi,

I am fairly new to messing about with Trainz even though I bought Trainz 2006 then! I have TS12 and TC3 and I would like to transfer the locos in TC3 to TS12. Is that possible and if so where do I find them in TC3 and how do I place them in TS12. I'm having serious problems with the Download Station download speeds, even though I have a FCT, :'( so I don't want to be downloading any assets if I can avoid it.

I have read some old threads in the forum about transferring stuff but it is double dutch to me and the things they talk about don't appear to exist is TC3 and Trainz2006. :(

Thanks in advance

TC3 was released as S&C which is now a DLC for TS12 SP1 etc. It has been updated and new content added. You might also be interested in LMS http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?114232-LMS-Potteries-Loop-Line-(UK) by essentially the same team. This one does not have DRM, Skipper1945 has been active on the DLS, bobsanders and my own work is available on jatws.org also trainboi1 is a fairly recent creator who has a few UK steam locos on the DLS.

Locos have dependencies.
Using your TC3 Content Manager pack every thing up in a CDP save to Desktop or where you want then drag and drop to TS12 Content Manager.
If you double click CDP it probably try to re-install to TC3.

The locos and dependencies probably will have errors and warnings after committed.

I use several apps to update all my Trainz content.
AssetX and scripts
PaintShop Pro v8.1
Note Book
Content Creator +

My 1st class ticket works just fine what is the problem?

Thanks for that John. I'm afraid I'm not up with the jargon, e.g. S&C DRM but will try to figure the rest out.

Welcome to Trainz Speak. :)

S&C is the Skipton & Carlisle. (Settle and Carlisle) route.

DRM = Digital Rights Management and is downloaded in-game as DLC or DownLoad Content,

Hi

I remember adding TC3 content to TRS2009 and there were dozens if not hundreds of errors to repair to get it to work. In the end I bought the S&C 2009 version as I didn't know if I would live long enough to repair them all.

If you are just wanting to install the locos then the errors should be manageable but as it's four or five years ago since I did it I can't remember if the locos were faulty or not. If they are they will most likely be repairable with time and effort and I'm sure that people on here will give you advice on how to do it if you don't know how to do it yourself.

Regards

Brian

Bazza,

I'd go along with what Brian says:

(it's what I did and I'm used to sorting out the vagaries of Trainz :))

At the current price of $19.90, (that's Aussie dollars - about £10.73 today) it's not a bad deal but sometimes you can pick it up cheaper when the sales are on.

Don't buy it from any of the discounters, you are looking for trouble unless you know all the ins and outs.

That said, if funds are tight and you have the time to spare it should be easy enough to import the locos - but you should really bring across the MK1 coaches and some other items as well. What version (the number at the bottom right of the opening menu) is your TS12 ? (This can make a difference to the ease of import).

Thanks to all of you for your amazing advice. I will contemplate it and make some decisions. It's good to know that Trainz community is so helpful. Thank you all. Bazza
