Can I get Trainz on my PC?

Hi,

I have TRainz on my Nexus 7 and enjoy using it but it can be frustrating at times and would love to use it on the PC.

Unfortunately my graphics cardon my PC is now "legend" and there is no support for it. I definately won't be able to play the latest Trainz games. But how about Trainz 2006? Or even 2004? I have W7 Ultimate. I need more memory (another Gig) and have a Video Adapter Radeon X1600 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) (256 MB).

What do you think? can play CIV3 vanilla on here but that's about it.

And where can I download stuff like grass and corn for my Trainz on my Nexus7?

2006 will run fine on that..

I have Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 by Merlscom LLC but upon loading the game my computer starts to freeze and then bluescreens. Is 2006 available on STEAM that way I can see whether it would work or not?

Ok, first, we need the specs of the PC. That would help to determine if it can run 06 or 04 the best

Strangely enough TS12 actually uses the least hardware resources even though the recommended specs are higher than for the old versions. It's more in carefully selecting content that has low impact than anything else. So avoid high poly steam locos and set the performance sliders to be less than high detail and the draw distance to be as short as possible.

What are you specs by the way belarc.com will scan the machine and tell you if you aren't sure. Some laptops might struggle but most desktops should be OK.

Sorry, but TRS06 is way out of date. No way would N3V make a re-release on steam of it. It's discontinnued

I know that I will have to upgrade my PC to play Trainz games like 2010/13 etc but the quality of graphics on Trainz android is not that great so I'm thinking I might just be able to play it on the PC with a low-end video card onboard. Is there a trial version of 2004 or 06 I can play on the PC?

You may be able to, as the demo's don't use very much ram, or graphic card power due to them just containing 3 maps in both versions of the TRS06 Demo, and about 8 if I remember correctaly in the 04 demo, which, by the way, you can create your own routes in the 04 demo

I've just posted my specs but it needs to be confirmed by the site mods.

You can get modern budget friendly graphics cards from Nvidia for a relatively low cost, and the same goes for RAM. For my NAS Server builds, I try to spend the least amount of money so I can invest in the SAS Disks. Nanya brand ram is relatively cheap and has been proven reliable for me for over 6 years of using it.
I'm more interested in your processor. Pop up Control panel from your start menu, go to Hardware & Sound (Sorry for screwing up what I posted last time), and open the device manager.
Post what it says under the "Processors" tree.

This is enough to tell me what I can recommend you do, as I can look at the chipset more in detail.

CPU,GPU and amount of ram is enough.

I just downloaded Trainz 2004 and 2006 demos and both of them lead to a bluescreen when opening the demo. So it looks like I need a new computer. I'm going to go to Scan in Wigan (UK) and get one built for me, but not before I save up for it. It's going to cost me at least £600.

I have intel(R) Core 2 cpu 6300 @ 1.86GHz (x2)

I would like to play Cities XL 2013 but I know 'm going to need a good computer fr that.

The Intel E6300 should be more than capable of running Trainz 2006. Not to be a total Nvidia fanboy but I've noted that sometimes ATI cards can cause massive "epic failures", especially older ones.
Try pulling the card out (with your computer off) and run Trainz after that. This is the first step to diagnose a problem.
Oh, and if you want to, consider an E6400. Those should fit your motherboard's socket and it's what I use on my NAS Servers. Very reliable and powerful processors for their age and price at this point in time.
Note: If it's not on a PCI card that you can pull out, it's built on. Let me know and I'll point you to the card I have in my workstation which is budget friendly.

I pulled the card out but then realised that my monitor cable uses that card, and there is no other port I can attach the monitor cable to.

Odd. Well in that case I'd suggest a new card. Are you able to take a nice quality image of your logic board? This way I can see what type of sockets you have.

A few things to try.
Run trainz as admin, also run in compatibility mode for windows xp sp2 or 3 (sp= service pack).
Don't know about the demos but the installed 2006 needs to be build 3337 or 3092 or it won't run.
Your computer as it is is plenty powerful enough for 2006. Recommended specs 1 gb ram, 2ghz single core cpu and a 128 mb cpu.
