Can I get some help please? Weathering in Photoshop

This is about the quickest tutorial I could come with.

If you know how to make a layer you can play around with textures
and see results after saving and viewing in Assetx by clicking the *.im .
You can have Assetx open *.tga in Photoshop.
I have found high rez pictures of locoes and did a copy/ paste of weathering the fade the layer
so the details show thru.
Experiment make a mess have fun..remember your not going to get right the 1st time.
Almost forgot..CLONE....

How do you copy and paste weathering from a real locomotive? But thank you all for the advice!

Find a good photo from a 90 degree angle. Example http://modelhobby.eu/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/DSC_8698.jpg

Paste it over the textures and fiddle with various blend modes, overlay, soft light etc and opacity. You'll need to use the heal or spot heal to get rid of numbering that interferes with ARN.

In order to get a high resolution phototexture of the right engine in the right livery at the right angle, more often than not you'll have to take a photo of it yourself (or find someone who can help).
