Welcome to Trainz and the forums, Nick. You sure did pick up an early version of Trainz. There maybe items available on the Download Station (DLS), but I'm not familiar with this version and how to access the DLS with it. There are many "old timers" here that have used UTC and have upgraded since then. I'm sure they can help you.

I would however plan on upgrading to TS2010 eventually because this is where the company is heading to, and where most of the new items are.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you wish.

John

I would hang fire on TS2010 for a while yet, they still haven't wrung some major bugs out of it, plus if you run a fairly standard desktop or laptop, you will need to spend around £300 upgrading your machine to run TS2010.
Check out the TS2010 section of this forum, it will give you an idea of what I mean.

Are you referring to the DLS? I see 8466 items for UTC and earlier versions available for downloading on there (4613 for UTC alone). You have registered your copy, haven't you? Then you should not have any problems getting any of them.

Click on the Download Page link, then in the new Window, click on Download (FTP) download file via direct FTP link. Works every time for me. This way you get a local copy of the object in a CDP file which you then install in the game. Can someone remind us how that was done in UTC, it was a long time ago.
