Amazing what a few new bits can do for your FPS numbers. :clap:Official confirmation...IKB is a demiGod...
Installed the latest Nvidia drivers ( 197.16_notebook_winvista_win7_32bit_international_whql ) and as I type this the frame rate (minimised) for TS2010 has jumped from 6.4 FPS to around 65 FPS.
TRS2006 now being uninstalled...
It all seems weird to me that people resist change..I moved to 2010 and have no problems with it...In anycase are all the nasayers going to complain to Microsoft when they stop supporting XP..if they haven't already done so..we are all going to have to upgrade our computers some time, just to run Windows ..just an old eighty year olds thought..L
How often does it have to be said, the object version is often the minimum required and not the maximum? I make new objects for TS2010 but will label them for an older version if I don't use one of the newest features. In an attempt to keep my installation of 2010 pure for use in "Native" mode, I went to the DLS and unticked all but "TS2009SP4/TS2010", under "Category" entered "Buildings/Structures".
Search results "No downloads found".
Is Auran shooting itself in the foot with their new policies regarding support.

It's a myth that everything in native mode has to be using TS2009/TS2010 features. In an attempt to keep my installation of 2010 pure for use in "Native" mode, I went to the DLS and unticked all but "TS2009SP4/TS2010", under "Category" entered "Buildings/Structures".

Try searching for 2009 + 2009SP4/2010...
There's no benefit to setting a scenary item as 2010 only unless it uses:
a) speedtreez based features
b) scripted layer changes
As those are the only two features really that 2010 features that 2009 doesn't.
Scripted layer changes aren't likely to be on building items anyway, it's something that you'd more likely see on a route.
Well, they will disappear from one of the places you have it stored.Isn't that the point of this entire issue. If you create for older versions and upload to the DLS, then those older versions will eventually disappear.
Why does there have to be?...but there is NO single source that can replace the DLS for older content.
....Why does there have to be?
It's been great having one place to upload as a main storage, but times change.
Auran have changed the way they work (rightly so, long overdue), now it's time content creators changed their habits too.
For instance, my content will be released in 2 locations, the DLS and TPR Download Depot.
When the DLS stops allowing some people to download, I will be uploading said content to my website, so there will always be at least 2 places people can get my content, regardless of what version they're using.
Route creators should also get into the habit of checking where they got their content from before releasing their route.
As we travel past September, this is going to be important for anyone downloading routes.
Smiley.
For all of the TS2010 fans out there, if you create in 2009 (or older) because you really don't need the 2010 features, then eventually, the 2009 content will probably disappear because they don't meet 'current' standards.
I'm against any content disappearing from the DLS just because it has a 2004 tag on it. Personally, I'm not going to spend countless hours on a steam locomotive just to have it disappear from the DLS in 3 or 4 years because some consider it old.

Assuming by 'doesn't meet current standards' you mean 'has errors, and doesn't work on current versions', then I'd say that's fair enough, especially if the author isn't willing to update it to fix the errors.
Which is, after all, what this is all about.

Man, you said it all! Well done!!

Isn't that the point of this entire issue. If you create for older versions and upload to the DLS, then those older versions will eventually disappear. It's the same with TS2009 content, eventually it will disappear also. Yes, I know that there are third party sites that will host older content, but there is NO single source that can replace the DLS for older content.

I can confirm that my framerates DOUBLED from TC3 to TS10, that's when I realised I had to move on. I wish others in this community could reach the same understanding. You also have the latest video drivers, right? I must have a secret CRAY cause my frame rates in TS2010 are way better than that...
